So Zarape Restaurant finally opened in the business corridor of 2nd Street in Belmont Shore, Long Beach. We are very happy that they have opened in our community. It is a great option of Latin food & is one of the best Mexican eateries in the city. The interior is colorful and welcoming. The staff was very friendly and our waitress Megan directed us to her favorites on the menu. She is very knowledgeable & definitely has the skills to make your visit pleasurable. We started with the taquitos and had all the different fillings so we could pick our favorites. We proceeded to order the fish plate that was very delicious. The salsa that was on it had just the right amount of spice and complimented the fish perfectly. They also feature aguas frescas so we had to have the horchata & tamarindo. Very refreshing. We will definitely be back to try the other menu options & will dive into the desserts. See you here!

With the first bite, it was a apparent that the flavor and the taste of this food set it apart from other restaurants. We happened to stop by on the weekend during the afternoon, and were delighted to see a terrific selection of brunch and lunch/dinner items on the menu. We ordered the steak omelette and the mini taco sampler so we could have a good selection to try. The omelette was made to perfect perfection, and the steak is juicy and flavorful, and honestly some of the best steak I’ve had. The accompanying potatoes and toasted bread were delicious and all had their own unique flavor. The tacos were incredible, and all had their unique flavor and style of being made, but our favorite was the chicken Tinga, which I definitely recommend you try.. we returned the next week for taco Tuesday during happy hour and proceeded to have a buffet of deliciousness. Steak quesadilla, chips and guacamole, and the tacos all had that delicious flavor we remember from the first visit. We tried the flan and the cheesecake as well, and of course they were both amazing. The inside is well decorated, and the atmosphere is classy and elegant, but not uptight. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and ready to give recommendations on their favorite dishes. this is not your typical Mexican cuisine and usual flavors, but elevated cuisine so it will take a bit lover to make, but you’ll taste the difference immediately. Looking forward to returning so we can try all the other delicious menu selections!
