Always a winner. I’ve dined at Ume many times and it consistently delivers. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere makes every visit enjoyable. It’s one of those places you can keep coming back to and know you’ll have a great experience. Highly recommended.

Visited for dinner on a Saturday night with a party of three and left pleasantly surprised. Since there aren’t many Asian food options in this area compared to the South Bay, I came in with modest expectations, but the food ended up being much better than expected. Bonus points for using real wasabi and serving great ginger slices.

We were seated on the back patio, which was really nice in the evening. There was plenty of shade from the bamboo, so it stayed cool and comfortable.

    Food:
    • Fried Calamari – 3/5: Slightly dry, but the sweet Thai aioli was a unique touch.
    • Geisha Roll – 5/5: A solid, classic sushi roll.
    • 49er Roll – 5/5: My favorite of the night thanks to the refreshing lemon slice on top.
    • Carberator Roll – 3.5/5: Just okay for me since I’m not a huge fan of tempura, but we ordered it because one person in our group wanted something non-spicy, and it ended up being their favorite.
    • Snow White Roll – 4/5: A little too heavy on the sauce, but still very flavorful.

Parking was easy thanks to the large dedicated lot, and we had no trouble finding a spot.

Service was friendly throughout the meal. The only downside was that it could be a bit harder to get the staff’s attention from the back patio since it’s tucked away from the main dining area.

    Best item: 49er Roll
    Would I come back? Absolutely.

We had a party of 6 on a February, Friday night with no reservation, and they were able to accommodate us. The atmosphere is nice, though the tables are really close together and it is a bit loud. The sushi was solid, and the staff was helpful and accommodating. We loved the veggie tempura; it was delicious. The 49er Roll and the Geisha Roll were both excellent. The menu is extensive, with lots of choices. We will be back.

Our first time eating here. We are new to the area and we love love Japanese food. To our surprise, the pork Katsu was dry. My husband got sashimi and the fish was not fresh. Tempura combo was ok but the salmon was dry as well and the serving size was really small. The service was excellent though and the atmosphere was fantastic. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back to eat here.

Their new Happy Hour is amazing!! Sake cocktails (I was dubious) were really wonderful. So wonderful I had 3! And the appetizers will make both sushi and non sushi lovers happy! Lovely patio and warm service.
