Compact setting with comfortable seating at 7-8 tables. Latin soccer and entertainment news on overhead TV. Attentive service. Free salsa. Jamaica, and orchata with usual drinks and Mexican beer. I like the street tacos. Variety of Mexican ingredients to replicate a trip to Yucatan.
I’ve been eating at Tommy’s Salsa for decades, and the food is always fresh and absolutely delicious! I pretty much eat here at least once a week.
While I enjoy everything they have to offer, my main go-tos are the Cheese Enchiladas, Fish Tacos and the Shrimp Acapulco Taco Salad. They also have amazing weekly and seasonal specials – like the fresh Dungeness crab enchiladas; I wait patiently for them to return all year!
I’ve used Tommy’s for multiple catered events over the years, including my own wedding reception! They offer 3 great catering options to fit any party: the restaurant can prep everything so it’s ready for you to pick up and serve, they can come to your event to cook and serve right on the spot, or you can hire their taco truck, which is always a massive hit with guests.
Tommy’s is such a tremendous asset to the Novato community. The owners and staff are always so kind, generous, and willing to go above and beyond. They are always willing to help the community when times are hard by donating meals, and I think that is truly amazing.
I’ve seen the “bad” reviews on here, and can honestly say if there’s ever a problem or a mistake, the owners and staff at Tommy’s will do absolutely everything in their power to make it right. That level of care is a true testament to who they are, and it’s exactly why I chose to support them.
I highly recommend Tommy’s Salsa to anyone looking for fantastic food from a business that truly cares.
Used to be the best Mexican food in Novato but no longer even palatable. Ordered a fajita burrito special from DoorDash for $19. It lists all these ingredients like guac, salsa, cheese, sour cream, tofu, peppers etc. instead it’s literally just dry black beans and rice with some tofu. No flavor, and none of the listed ingredients. I never do this but it was so dry that I threw it out.
I’ve been here many times over the years for their tacos and burritos but never for breakfast. What a mistake. The best Mexican breakfast in town!! The Huevos Motoleños and the Huevos Rancheros were OMG
This is a great spot to take the family or friends. They have a nice range of homemade salsa’s but what really set’s this place apart from the rest is their Al Pastor. Most places can’t do it right but they nail it! Another indicator is their beans and rice and they do a good job of that too!
Edit: 2021. It seems that there has been some minor changes to the dishes. It doesn’t quite have the flavor it used to have but it is still a good go-to and the outdoor seating is nice in these times. They also had to shut down the salsa bar. You can get little plastic small servings of their salsa though. The owners are really nice people and support the community through donations and fundraisers. I will still take my family here whenever possible.
