Had a great meal at North Coast Brewing Company during our stay in Fort Bragg. We started with the Beer Cheese Pretzels and Calamari, both of which were excellent and paired perfectly with the brewery’s beers.
For the main course, I ordered the Fish + Chips made with local rock cod, and it was outstanding—crispy, light, and not greasy at all. The Clam Chowder was rich, flavorful, and easily one of the better chowders I’ve had on the Northern California coast. We also tried the Shrimp + Chips, which were cooked perfectly and came with generous portions.
Of course, the beer was fantastic. A Scrimshaw Pilsner alongside the seafood was the perfect combination. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was friendly, and the historic brewery setting added to the experience.
If you’re visiting Fort Bragg, North Coast Brewing is a must-stop for great beer, fresh seafood, and classic pub fare done right.
4.5 Stars – Excellent Pub Experience at North Coast Brewing Co.
I had a fantastic lunch at The Pub at North Coast Brewing Co. in Fort Bragg and left very impressed! The fish and chips were outstanding — perfectly crispy golden batter on fresh fish with thick-cut fries that were nicely seasoned. The coleslaw was fresh and crunchy with a great tang, and the tartar sauce was creamy and flavorful. I also tried the clam chowder, which was rich, hearty, and loaded with tender potatoes and clams, topped with fresh parsley. Paired with a slice of their excellent bread, it hit the spot.
The highlight for me was the wide variety of North Coast brews on tap. So many excellent options to choose from — it’s clearly a beer lover’s paradise. Everything I tried was fresh and full of character.
Bonus points for being dog friendly — we brought our pup and they were more than welcome on the outdoor patio. The service was friendly and attentive, and the casual, welcoming vibe made it feel like a true local gem.
Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Great food, fantastic beer selection, and pet-friendly — we’ll definitely be back!
We visited last May 10th 2026 on our way up to our Lost Coast Trail hike. North Coast Brewing Company is one of our favorite beers. The staff there were friendly and attentive. Our first time trying their food. We had the ½ SHRIMP ½ FISH + CHIPS, ROCK COD SANDWICH, GARLIC FRIES, and a cup of CLAM CHOWDER. Everything we ate was delicious, but the CLAM CHOWDER was spectacular! No wonder it was award winning! We bought BROTHER THELONIOUS and OLD NO. 38 beers to-go. So good! Wished we bought more!!
I enjoyed the charm of this pub/restaurant. I had fish and chips, my husband had the black bean smash burger. They were both excellent. I had the scrimshaw lager, and he had a flight. I hope to go back again!
We ordered brussel sprouts as an appetizer. My wife ordered dinner salad and added grilled chicken. I ordered the fish and chips. As soon as we sat down our order was taken. They offer a full wet bar along with a nice beer selection. They also offer patio dinner and bar seating. In the bar of the offer a couple of TVs to watch the sports. Food was delicious and service was top-notch.
