We drove quite a distance-my son from Bayside, and my mom, grandson and I from Napa- each of us traveling about two to two and half hours to meet for lunch in Willits. We were greeted warmly by a woman at the bar with a big smile and told we could sit anywhere. So, we started towards the back to sit a male staff member approached us with his palms up and came towards us, saying the dog “can’t be in here” and that I needed to take her outside. He rolled his eyes when I explained she is a service dog and is well-behaved (doesn’t shed or have dander). When I asked if he would like to see her papers, her responded that he “can’t ask” and then said, “I’d prefer if you guys sit outside.”
We walked outside as requested, but after discussing it, we decided to leave without eating.
Normally this wouldn’t be such a big issue, but the way it was handled felt off, especially after the friendly greeting. The staff member approached us directly instead of calmly asking the two questions allowed under ADA guidelines (whether the dog is a service animal required for a disability and what task it performs). He told me twice that she couldn’t be inside without properly inquiring first about whether it was a service dog. There were only 5 people in the building eating, and we were heading to the furthest table from them.
As a business owner myself for 20 years, I know these situations can be handled more respectfully and in line with the law. A simple, calm conversation following the proper questions could have made all the difference. It was disappointing after traveling so far for what started as a nice welcome.

I had a double cheeseburger, it came with fries. The burger was juicy, tasty, and the lettuce and onions in it were fresh. It felt positively gluttonous, in fact it was a struggle to fit it into my mouth. I made a bit of a mess, but that’s the risk you take with the double. The service was super kind and fast. My mom would say it’s overly nice as they go above and beyond to not possibly offend anyone. It’s a nice addition to our town. I hope this place sticks around! Owners, get some hot sauce, that’s my only desire. If you want to sit down for some burgers, you won’t go wrong with this one.

This place is really great. We had smash burgers and they were really good. The size of fries was generous. And the service here was top notch.
Definitely kid friendly and would definitely recommend anyone for a quick bite to eat or drink.

Stopped in for a burger and a coke at this local gem. This is a traditional bar and grill – full bar with the small grill in the back with an open view. There was seating at the bar, inside high tops and tables and even outside seating. The menu had a number of offering – – sandwiches and other traditional bar and grill fare. Service was excellent – the server knew her menu and made some excellent recommendations. We went with the burger, which came hot, juicy and cooked to perfection. Toppings were fresh and the fries were a perfect combo. Overall an excellent choice – definitely a recommend in our books!
