The bouncer of this bar denied entry to the bride of a wedding party I was with because she only had her green card (which abc.ca.gov considers a bona fide identification). After mention of
this, he became very aggressive very fast and was asking the bride if she paid taxes in this state and others who were legally visiting from other countries if they were citizens. It’s astonishing this person is employed by this establishment. We took our business elsewhere.
The bouncer (I think his name is Dylan G because he later DMed my friend to heckle her about a review that referred to his behavior) is one of the most disrespectful and insecure human beings I’ve ever met. The way he spoke to me and several people in our wedding party was abhorrent and beyond inappropriate.
For context, our group came from a wedding weekend and some of us didn’t have IDs on us. Totally understandable that IDs were required to enter, so those of us who didn’t have ours asked friends to bring them over. The IDs were delivered and, despite our efforts to comply with the rules, this man decided we could not come in.
The issue was never being asked for identification. Any responsible establishment should verify IDs, and nobody in our group had a problem with that. The issue was the way the situation was handled. Instead of treating people respectfully, the bouncer immediately escalated the interaction by insulting members of our group, calling one woman “dense,” screaming at her to get out, and hurling vulgar personal insults at other guests when they asked him to calm down. He literally told my partner that he finger bangs his mom… He told people their genetics were wrong. His many hateful comments were so immature and offensive that I would expect them from an angry teenager, not someone representing a business and responsible for customer safety.
What should have been a routine interaction turned into a hostile confrontation entirely because of his behavior. Several members of our group were shocked by how quickly he became aggressive and how comfortable he seemed speaking to paying customers that way.
His conduct lost this bar a really incredible group of friends who were in town celebrating a wedding and looking forward to spending the evening there. Instead, roughly 60 adults took their business elsewhere. We were ready to enjoy drinks, tip generously, and support a local establishment. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome, disrespected, and genuinely uncomfortable.
A bad bouncer can ruin an otherwise good bar. If this is the standard of professionalism Susie’s accepts from its staff, I would strongly recommend spending your money somewhere that treats guests with basic respect.
Josh, the owner, was so fun and generous with our large group of women. So were the rest of the patrons in there!
I can’t thank him enough for the swag he gave me because my name is Susie! I wore it to a party the next night and can hardly wait to wear it with my friends at home!
Thanks for showing us all such a good time! It was the most fun of all our stops on the tour.
We stayed downtown Calistoga and stubbed upon this cute spot. Drinks are stiff, jukebox available and we got to play darts upstairs. Saw shuffle board in pictures online but couldn’t find it.

Best bar in Calistoga! Always a good vibe in there. Good beer selection and the pours are solid! Our fav hangout when in town.
