My mother‑in‑law had an upsetting, prejudiced experience at the register while buying ingredients to make tamales, while I sat outside. I picked her up after she attempted to buy a tamale steamer, clearly marked at $14.99. The cashier manually typed in a price of $29.99 instead of scanning the barcode. While she was in line, someone in line commented, “It’s cuz you’re white. They do that here.”
It seemed the cashier had made a wrong assumption about my mother‑in‑law’s ethnicity and believed she was white. She’s Portuguese, and her darker, olive‑toned complexion often leads people to think she’s Mexican. What bothered me most was the look on her face, that mix of confusion, embarrassment, and frustration that comes from being misjudged in public over something as simple as trying to buy groceries. No one should have to feel singled out or stereotyped in a moment as ordinary as buying groceries. She left the items at the register and said, “I see how things are here.”
I used to rave about this place. Regardless of ethnicity, everyone should pay the same price. It felt like the perfect spot to find everything you need to make great Mexican food at home. After today, though, I think I’ll be taking my business elsewhere for a while.
I hardly give bad reviews but this place needs it two days after purchasing meat, I discovered an unusual odor emanating from the packaging upon removal. When I reported this to the on-duty supervisor, I was met with a dismissive response questioning my handling of the product. My request to speak with the manager was denied, and I was given no contact information. Despite expressing my intention to file a formal complaint if necessary, the supervisor remained unhelpful.
Love it! As I entered, I was greeted by the vibrant, honest atmosphere of an actual Mexican grocery store. The selection of fresh fruit and vegetables is incredible—everything from juicy tomatoes to ripe avocados. I was also amazed at the selection of spices and sauces you just can’t find in most stores.
Meat department is top-notch, with phenomenal cuts for each recipe you’re preparing and an unbelievable variety of real Mexican cheeses and tortillas to incorporate into it. And, incidentally, they have an unbelievable bakery with super-tasty pan dulce which is always totally fresh and really delicious.
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to give great suggestions if you’re looking for something specific or new to try. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican ingredients, this store is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Prices aren’t great, service isn’t the best, I only go there when I need a specific mexican item
