I booked this hotel for 1 night mainly because there was a slight room séparation from the pull out couch where our child was planning to sleep. It was an overall terrible experience. I booked this hotel in May 2026 but we traveled in late July 2026. There was no staff at the hotel when we arrived (Tuesday) but there was no way of knowing other than by calling the main phone number and hearing that we should check in next door at the Thatcher hotel. I walked over and received confusing instructions from the bartender along with the keys on how to get to our room. Up the stairs we went the first time and saw no doors with a key card so we went all around the building because of course the elevator was broken. We then tried inside again and realized the rooms were located behind a heavy door. Finally we lugged all of our things up two hot flights of stairs and into a hot room. My child had been excited to go swimming and then he realized the pool was freezing and that made him feel really frustrated. We did enjoy the huge tub in the bathroom but unfortunately the jets were broken. We also noticed there was street construction right outside the hotel but hoped it would’ve been daytime only, boy were we wrong. The construction went on all night and nobody was able to sleep despite a loud noise machine. Also anytime the AC turned off it would make such a loud sound in the living room that my child wasn’t able to sleep. The next morning we rushed to shower and get ready and of course the power went out for about 10 minutes in the morning. Overall rating 1 star only because the main bed was comfortable. But the fact that there was all night construction right outside and the hotel didn’t bother to let us know ahead of time or even tell us that they were closed and what my check in/check out instructions were made it all the worst. Lovely, peaceful, quiet hotel. Rooms are well appointed and clean; and the building is beautiful. It’s connected to the Thatcher Hotel next door, so it’s easy to jump between the two for coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening. Well located in Hopland, we could walk to several food options and only a short distance from some wonderful wineries

This is possibly the most conflicted review that I’ve created. First, I will share the praises. The Inn it’s self is 5 stars for atmosphere and style. The woodwork and classic attention to detail was very pleasing. The strength of the structure, thick doors, granite and marble, brass faucets, wrought iron, thick carpets and runners, luxury mattress, towels and linens created a substantial and rich ambiance. I read the visitors guide provided in the room and consider it one of best I’ve seen. We enjoyed the fireplace, organic tea selection and non single serve coffee. The grounds between the hotels are beautifully kept. My husband enjoyed a breakfast sandwich at the poppy Cafe next door, very convenient.

Next, here are the areas of improvement. The check in was quite awkward. We arrived at 7pm (apparently “after hours”). We could not check in online. We called the Inn and the bartender said he could assist us. He was willing but help but he was new and unfamiliar with the process. Check in took about 20 minutes. He went next door to make our keys and ” make sure the room was clean” (again, awkward). He did tell us that the thought the jets in the tub were broken and indeed they were. Additionally, in this particular room, the shower head had so much lime build up that the direction of the water sprays uncontrollably. There was a used soap left in the shower, the toilet is not bolted down properly, there was makeup powder buildup on the beautiful wood carvings under the bathroom sink and an oily hand pint sliding down the wall next to the thermostat. Additionally, some drywall has popped off a screw on the wall opposite of the bar and the screw head is exposed. Furthermore, the Inn keepers cannot control the following items but, it would have been a thoughtful courtesy to make us aware before check in. There is very loud night construction happening only feet away from the rooms. I’m a sound sleeper and I found it disturbing. They were cutting large metal plates and maneuvering heavy equipment all night! I was not the only one distressed because the poor rooster next door crowed about it all night too. This is why my review is so conflicting because the experience was almost entirely a 5 star review but considering everything my experience was a 3 star. I do pass through Hopland often and I will definitely stay at Stock Farm again to hopefully have a better experience.
