Although we were staying at another hotel, we decided to have dinner at Solbar on our first night in Calistoga—and I knew almost immediately that this place was special. We sat at the bar, where the bartenders welcomed us so warmly. Water was poured right away, complimentary bar bites were offered along with the menu, and the hospitality felt genuinely thoughtful from the start.
The service was extraordinary and the cocktails were fantastic, making such an impression that we came back for breakfast on our last day. Chris, our server at breakfast, was amazing. We happened to run into friends seated outside and stepped out briefly to say hello. When we returned, the team had thoughtfully kept our food in the warming oven so it would still be perfectly warm after we finished socializing. That level of attention and care is rare.
Between the exceptional food and cocktails, warm welcome, and truly polished service, Solbar was a highlight of our trip. Based on this experience alone, I would absolutely stay at this property the next time I’m in Calistoga.
Made a reservation for our anniversary dinner here and was seated immediately. They acknowledged our celebratory meal and started us off with complimentary cocktails. We ordered the Parker rolls $15 with crab spinach dip $16, crab noodles $38, and short rib $78. Not cheap, but we felt the prices were reasonable considering the quality and portions. All the food was really good with well thought out ingredients and flavors. Best short rib we’ve ever had. So tender and flavorful. It is a must order. We joked about wanting to grab a to go order of that on our way home. We ended our meal with the butterscotch pudding, but ended up not liking it. The server noticed, apologized, and removed it from our bill. Really good service overall. Beautiful, classy looking, intimate, large sized restaurant. Plenty of parking. Literally the perfect meal in terms of food, service, and ambiance. Highly recommend
I absolutely loved my 50th birthday breakfast at Solbar before indulging in the Calistoga mud bath experience! Five stars, hands down. Easy reservation, great property and grounds, and lovely ambiance at the restaurant. I checked the menu ahead of time and really wanted both the duck confit benedict and lemon ricotta pancakes, so I told Chris, the server, about that and asked to check if they can do half the pancake order. Little did I know that Chris already had something special cooking – he brought out the little lemon ricotta pancake with blueberry sauce, real maple syrup and a birthday-engraved chocolate piece in addition to my duck confit! Delightful! Very impressed and grateful, definitely recommend this Michelin-star experience and will come back for dinner!
We absolutely love Solbar! As locals, this has become one of our go-to spots throughout the year. No matter the season, Solbar consistently delivers an amazing experience. Whether we’re stopping in for a relaxed breakfast, a casual lunch, or a lively dinner with friends and family, the food is always on point.
We’ve truly experienced it all here: morning coffee and breakfast with your partner on a peaceful day, lunch in the sunshine, and dinner gatherings that turn into long, memorable evenings. It’s one of those rare places that does every part of the day well. The quality is consistent, the ingredients always feel fresh, and the menu offers something for everyone.
What keeps us coming back, though, is not just the food but the overall atmosphere. It’s welcoming yet elevated, making it perfect for both special occasions and spontaneous visits. And the drinks are just as impressive as the food whether it’s a well-crafted cocktail, a great glass of wine, or something seasonal, they always deliver.
Solbar is one of those dependable gems you’re grateful to have as a local. We’ll continue to recommend it and keep coming back again and again.
