The grove is magical. There are bring your own picnic areas, just grab a bottle of wine and enjoy. The wines are divine. I like Rockpile Zin and then there’s Venom, my all time favorite. Seghesio is a must on any visit to Healdsburg.
We had the pleasure of touring how they make the wine and the cellar. It was interesting and we learned a lot. Our guide was fantastic. He answered questions, told us some history and some of the intricacies of how they make the wine and the various blends.
We then did a tasting. All of the wines were delicious. The pours were the perfect amount, not too little that you can’t get that multiple drink flavor change and also not so much you leave there drunk. They gave us some macadamia nuts and craisins and almonds. And even let us sit and picnic there since we’re from out of town and brought snacks and a sandwich.
Really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend it!
Seghesio Family Vineyards was recommended to us by some friends that are familiar with the area and it did not disappoint! We had a lovely cheese board along with our tasting and thoroughly enjoyed both the cheese and the wine! The gentleman who did our tasting (apologies, cannot remember his name, but he was wearing the best hat!) was friendly and knowledgeable and made the tasting fun! I was concerned my wife would not like the wines much as she is generally not big on Zinfandels, but these were amazing and she really enjoyed them! For my money, the Home Ranch Zinfandel was one of the better glasses of wine I’ve ever had! Overall, just an amazing experience, and I would definitely do it again! Next time, though, I am definitely reserving a bocce pit!
We especially like the Vermentino, Rosato, and Chardonnay from Seghesio – delightful for the summer months.
We really liked the bottle of Zin, so the promo for a case was quite appealing. We purchased 3 each of the Zin, Cortina Zin (even better), Rosato (summer time delight), and Barbera (outstanding).
We like to support vineyards and wineries like Seghesio Family Vineyards that are committed to sustainable practices.
The Zinfandel was rated highly in a recent issue of Wine Spectator, and we were fortunate to find a bottle at our local Total Wine store at a great price.
This is a very good Zinfandel that is fruity, gentle, and smooth. Highly recommended!
What an outstanding experience! Our host, Tony, was delightful and well-informed. The wine was great, and the setting was exquisite. It was so relaxing and all you would hope for in such an experience! We readily joined the club and are looking forward to our first shipment. This should be high on your list of winery to visit while in Sonoma!
