This is clearly labor of love. It’s full of interesting pieces and PACKED with information. More information about seaglass than you ever thought possible!! Lots of beautiful seaglass jewelry pieces as well. The curator is sweet and very knowledgeable!! It’s a small donation of $2 to enter and worth every penny.

We saw a bumper sticker from this museum in San Francisco and decided that we must visit this museum. It was very satisfying just looking at the colorful display of sea glass. It was also a great starting point to exploring the glass beaches in Fort Bragg; we learned a lot about the different types of sea glass in the area as well as the history of Fort Bragg sea glass beaches. There’s even a chart of the rarity of different colors of sea glass, All of this made our trip to the sea glass beaches 5 minutes north even more exciting.
The museum is a single room in a “mall” connected to a small shopping area for sea glass jewelry and souvenirs. The museum itself is free to visit, but Capt Cass is accepting donations. It was also really interesting seeing the Captain voyages, interviews, and other projects; this place is truly his personal passion project that includes more than just sea glass. I would recommend stopping by for a quick visit to learn about the sea glass beaches from a collector’s perspective before going to the beaches.

The Sea Glass Museum in Fort Bragg was a wonderful experience. It was far more educational and in depth than I expected, and I walked away learning so much about the history and science behind sea glass. The displays are very well organized and thoughtfully put together, making it easy to follow along and really understand the story being told. This is much more than just a quick five-minute stop for tourists—it is a place where you can spend real time exploring and appreciating the details.

What made the visit especially memorable was the knowledge and enthusiasm of the owner. He clearly has a deep passion for the subject and is eager to share it with visitors. The way he explained the history, the process, and the significance of sea glass added so much richness to the experience. It is rare to find someone so willing to share their expertise in such an approachable and engaging way.

If you are visiting Fort Bragg, the Sea Glass Museum is absolutely worth your time. It offers a unique and educational perspective on something many of us might overlook, and it leaves you with a new appreciation for the beauty and history hidden in every piece of sea glass.

It is run by Captain Cass. Entrance is free ,but donations are welcomed. We can buy some items made out of glass collected from the beach. It is open throughout the year except on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day from 10 am-5 pm.

The museum is located inside a mall of sorts that has a salon and restaurants and other stores. It’s a very colorful museum with all the different types of glass found. The rare purple from old apothecary bottles. The vaseline glass that glows under black light. Learning about what items these pieces used to be was interesting. It’s free but donations are encouraged. There is also a gift shop with all types of glass art and jewelry as well as other items. I think it’s worth a visit before heading out to Glass Beach to look for your own treasures.
