Uncomfortable and Unprofessional Treatment at Safeway

I didn’t catch her name, but she was an older woman with short blonde hair and glasses. I went through self-checkout and already had an employee hovering over me, which felt incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional.

After checking out, I realized I forgot utensils and asked the self-checkout cashier if they had any extras. She directed me to the deli, where I picked some up. While walking back out with my groceries, another employee asked how I was doing. I said “good” and thought that was the end of the interaction, but then she asked where I was coming from. I told her I was getting chopsticks, and she immediately asked if I had paid for my groceries.

My groceries were already bagged, and my receipt was visibly sticking out of the bag because it was the last thing I put in. She didn’t ask any other customers around me the same question, and honestly, the interaction felt racially motivated. I was singled out, and it completely ruined the shopping experience for me.

Some of the employees are rude but there are still a ton of helpful and nice. Store is easy to locate what youre looking for. Starbucks inside. Open late. Alot of homeless people hang out in the front and on the side.
