I would like to start off by saying that in my 20 years of music festival attendance I have never once encountered such a magically delicious food offering at a festival. Rosie’s Bread N’ Butter quickly won my heart with the first bite of chicken and waffles on Friday. Every meal since then over the last several days has been so delicious and the food is so full of love you can taste it. Rosie’s variety of offerings is incredible and considering everything is being made by a 2 person team, the quality was consistently so good I decided to make it my side quest of the weekend to write this 6 STAR REVIEW.
The waffle topping selection was incredible ranging from hot honey chicken & waffles to mixed berry cheesecake, chocolate Carmel Oreo and mango passion fruit cheesecake all topped with in house made fruit compote and a perfectly creamy pillow cloud of whipped cheesecake on top.
I introduced myself to the pistachio crunch wrap Friday for dinner when I was craving something fresh. The veggies and chicken wrapped in a tortilla which was also somehow wrapped in fried cheese with a side of carrot chips was the perfect dinner to fuel my night and was big enough to share or save half for later.
The price to portion ratio was also incredible! A full heaping of soul nourishing food on every plate.
On top of all of this, Rosie is an absolute gem. Getting to know her and her passion for this project made me fall even more in love with their little red vending tent, and my visits each day was a highlight of the weekend. I found myself telling strangers who were pursuing the menu how amazing the food was and making friends in line who were also singing their praises about being obsessed with this food.
So after finishing my Sunday breakfast of chicken & waffles (again), a chicken Caesar wrap & iced oat milk mocha I’m taking a moment to write this review while I’m still at the festival. And yes the coffee bevy’s were also delicious!
She also whipped out a whole new menu for Sunday brunch and it’s just clear that she is passionate about creating culinary delights that nourish and satisfy. If you have the chance to stop by this treasure of a business I highly recommend you try one of everything. You literally can’t miss.
Rosie’s Bread ‘N’ Butter — Best Hidden Gem in Lake County, CA
If you’re looking for incredible comfort food, find Rosie. I’m not exaggerating — this is some of the best food I’ve had, ever.
I tried the Chicken N’ Waffles with Hot Honey Butter Sauce and it was absolutely next level. Crispy fried chicken tossed in hot honey butter over a golden waffle finished with maple bourbon — it’s not just a dish, it’s an experience.
What really sets Rosie’s apart is that you can taste the love in every single thing that comes out of her kitchen. The menu is creative without being pretentious, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair for the quality you’re getting. Rosie herself is warm, genuine, and clearly passionate about feeding people well.
