Great locally owned restaurant. The staff were friendly, it had a great homey atmosphere with lots of cool history everywhere. The food was fantastic and large portions. So glad we stopped on our way through town!
Fabulous little home town gem of a restaurant. They are cooking your meal in plain view right behind the counter seating. The service is very friendly. Most folks are on a first name basis. There is a deck of cards at every table. The food is so fresh it likely came out of the fields of Ferndale only days ago! Whenever our adult children are home for a visit we celebrate with a meal at Papa Joes! It always feels and tastes like home.
This is a very nice little breakfast lunch place nuzzled in downtown Ferndale. The food is huge and the prices are small. If you want traditional American olde timey diner experience then come here, pull up a chair and leave our chaotic world outside for a bit and slow down. Cash only but that is fine.
Best breakfast of our 11-day road trip through northern California. Basic breakfast food, but well-prepared and large portions. Very friendly service. What’s most fun, though, is just being here, in a decades-old restaurant, with a group of locals playing games in the back. Definitely plan to stop here whenever you visit Ferndale.

Best biscuits and gravy that I’ve had in awhile! Pleasantly surprised to find such a good cafe as we were passing through town. Fast service
