Sunrise here will stick with you for the rest of your life.
If you are anywhere near the area, the Point Mendocino Trail is an absolute must-try hike. The coastline views are completely stunning, but the absolute highlight is watching the massive, powerful waves crash right through the giant natural rock arches. You absolutely have to try this hike during sunrise, especially on a clear, sunny day. There is something so peaceful about the calmness of nature at that hour. Sitting out there with just a light coastal breeze, the roaring sound of the waves, and a hot cup of coffee in hand is pure perfection.
The path itself is smooth and easy, and we found a few perfectly placed benches along the bluffs. We just sat down, drank our coffee, and watched the morning light hit the water. It is a beautiful, quiet moment that you will seriously remember for the rest of your life!
BYO Coffee: Bring a travel mug or thermos with you from town; there are no shops out on the cliffs.
Wind check: Even on a sunny day, that early morning breeze coming off the water can be chilly, so grab a sweatshirt or jacket before you head out.
Absolutely beautiful. A must do trail if you’re in town, especially if you’re lucky and it’s sunny out! You don’t have to do the out and back. We started near the church and made a bee line back through town.
This is a place where you can take a leisurely walk and enjoy beautiful scenery before exploring the town center. It’s the perfect spot to give your dogs plenty of time to walk, tire them out a little, and let them rest in the car while you head to a restaurant or bar. The trail is pleasantly natural, not overly artificial, and the flat terrain with wide‑open views is truly stunning. A highly recommended destination.
One of the most beautiful trails I have been to, running along the Pacific Ocean and the cliffs and rocky beaches. The scenery is breathtaking all along and there are in roads from the main trail that take you closer to the sea. There are numerous coves, tidal pools, sandy stretches and wherever one points a camera the photos are calendar perfect !
What a beautiful place to visit and walk around. The weather was perfect and the views, AMAZING! Lots people out walking with the doggies which was nice. Absolutely gorgeous and a must! The people that love here are blessed! This was a wonderful stop on our drive up the coast.
