I don’t know how this place has such high ratings. As many others have said, the couple who own the motel are very nice, but nice doesn’t make up for the terrible urine smell that hit my nose the second we walked into the room. The windows were even open (gee, I wonder why?), and the owner closed them once we walked in. Since it was just for one night, we tried to make it work by spraying Lysol everywhere, but it didn’t help. We even left for a while, hoping the Lysol would make that terrible odour disappear, but it was still there when we returned, and then we had a room smelling both like urine and Lysol! We ended up finding another hotel to stay at for the night in the town of Sussex, which is close by. The owners offered us another room, but I lost complete confidence in them. There’s no trusting how clean any of the rooms would be even if they didn’t smell bad. They also wouldn’t give us our money back, saying that the room did not smell, and charged us $161 for one night. This value of the motel should be nowhere near that price. Very disappointed all around!

Yes, the price is low, but it’s definitely not worth it.

The place is very old, the room had a bad smell, and there’s basically no soundproofing at all — you can hear everything from outside and the neighboring rooms.

The towels were dirty and stained, and there were both dead and live insects in the bathroom.

Overall, a pretty horrible experience. Couldn’t wait to leave.

The pinecone motel is very clean, very reasonably priced and within walking distance of fast food and shopping. The owners are very accommodating and I highly recommend their hotel!
