Some of the best tacos in humboldt for a buck and very friendly staff. Their buzzer system makes it super convenient. Definitely try the pastor and the horchata
Got a carnitas burrito extra cheese and a side of grilled shrimp. Was a 18$ order I tipped 2$ cash. I normally have a wonderful experience here. Got home took a couple bites of my burrito opened it up there was 0 meat in the burrito. Maybe they didn’t see me throw money in the tip jar? I hit not tip on the card payment because I was tipping with cash. Maybe the business assumed I’m a no tipper and I get bad food. Regardless it’s super expensive to just drive back with gas prices. Furthermore returning back with a par eaten burrito to wait in a long line again isn’t going to make my meal taste any better. A part of me feels it was deliberate making it uncomfortable to eat at this place. Sadly I won’t be eating here again. It’s unfortunate I really liked this place.
I’ve given this place a shot several times and every time I’m disappointed. I try not to judge on just a couple bad experiences as we all have days at work when we’re not at our best but today was the worst experience.
The wait time to get a simple small order is insane and I definitely think they play favorites with the customers. It’s very aggravating to pull up to an empty parking lot with no one standing in line to only to get a handful of tacos 15 minutes after people who ordered after me got their food. And it’s not like I didn’t tip; I gave 20%. I’ve had this experience in the past with other orders as well.
I was hoping it was at least worth the wait but on top of being shorted one taco and having the remaining ones a little on the cold side, the most flavorful thing about the food here was the lime I squeezed on it. I know these are dollar tacos and you get what you pay for but a dollar taco should at least come with a modicum of flavor. This quality tracks with other food they have as well so I’m not necessarily sure it’s because of the price point. Worth noting; overall prices are what you’d pay at a restaurant which is a trend with food trucks that has me visiting less and less. If I wanted to pay that much money to wait that long to get food, I’ll just go to a restaurant.
This treatment feels oddly personal so I’m left wondering if I offended them somehow and they simply don’t want my business. If that’s the case, it certainly seems petty as they could simply communicate any concerns with me but I’m happy to oblige and patronize someplace else.
The first time I found them, it was a little surprising to see them on the side of a gas station, but the number of cars waiting for their orders made me think that I had found a gem. Now that I’ve been there a few times I actually call my order in ahead of time and then by the time I drive over it’s ready to pay and pick up. Incredibly convenient!!!
The food itself is fresh and delicious, any specific dietary restrictions are treated with sensitivity and care. They’re always kind, friendly and professional… and did I mention their huge and delicious breakfast burritos, too?!
Very tasty food, hidden gem. Kinda people, and very affordable food on their special $1 taco days. Days vary so call in and ask before ordering, it’s not everyday. But the flavor profile is better than most sit in spots in Humboldt. Would come back and would recommend to others too.
