Local town museum sharing the history of the county. Small museum that wont take a lot of time to visit but has some interesting exhibits to see. One of the exhibits is about Seabiscuit who is apparently from the area. Another exhibit is about the ship wreck frolic which wrecked off the coast and lost a massive cargo of China ware.
There is a rail barn in the back that has several rail items related to the logging industry in the area. In our visit the train was not running which apparently they operate from time to time. Overall fun stop if in the area.
Free with donations suggested. Tons of local artifacts from the very large to the very small and hundreds of photos covering early life, industry, native and settler heritage. Many hand made artifacts from local donors. Across the street from the skunk train and the both very proud and friendly chamber of commerce whose volunteers work hard to promote their city. Great home made pies next door.
Great place to stop by while we headed north to Humboldt County. The museum is huge and has various artifacts. Free admission and donations are accepted.
We love the museum! It is lovely to see their new showings a we always appreciate when the Roots of Motive Power has train rides available, like today.
