Luna Trattoria was our last night in Mendocino, ending our vacation on a happy note. Our server Alessio made us feel welcomed and well cared for throughout. The portions were hearty (enough to take home leftovers) and the bill was reasonable. We ordered calamari, minestrone and caprese salad to start followed by chicken Parm and four different pasta dishes as our mains. Thank you for a nice evening out!
Wow, I was disappointed by this restaurant! After seeing that this was one of the highest rated restaurants in the Mendocino area, I had a decent standard of hope. We ordered the carbonara, rock fish cod, and caesar salad.
– Starting with the bread that came with the order- the bread was stale and not moist at all.
– The caesar lacked the freshness in lettuce that stood out in other, more affordable restaurants in the area. It seemed like the type of salad you could buy at any grocery store.
– The carbonara was the better dish out of the rest, but it was nothing to write home about- I’ve had on par or better carbonara in many other places.
– The rockfish cod “special” was the biggest disappointment of all- overcooked beyond repair and drenched in oil, and lacked complexity or depth in flavor. Ironically, the potatoes that came with the dish could’ve been cooked for a tad longer.
The only saving graces for this restaurant were the ambience and the waiter with good humor. Now don’t get me wrong- I am typically not a harsh critic, but when you’re paying $90 for a meal that barely delivers what a similar restaurant would charge half the price for, this review feels justified. Would not recommend!
Romantic restaurant that will satisfy any occasion. The experience is great from start to finish. The starter bread is incredible. The calamari is also very fresh and tender. And all the dishes we ordered were a hit.
I loved our waiter. He was very friendly and told some hilarious stories. Luna was an awesome experience.
This Italian restaurant is one of our absolute favorites. We keep going back, and it truly never disappoints. The homemade pastas are outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with so much care. The portions are very generous.
The service is always excellent, the food is amazing, and the live music really sets the vibe. The guitarist is incredibly talented, with a beautiful voice and a great selection of songs that make the whole experience even more special.
I highly recommend making a reservation before going, as it’s always super busy, and that alone says a lot about the quality of the food and service. A must-visit spot!
