just walking in and seeing a guy on a power scooter trying to wrangle his off leash dog really set the tone for me . The trails here are definately a lot more overgrown than I remember from last summer, felt like i was brushing up against poison oak the whole time . But once you get past the first half mile or so it opens up nice and quiet, saw two deer just standing there looking at me . I wouldn’t bring kids or someone who’s not steady on their feet, the main path has some sections that are pretty washed out and uneven … theres a cool little creek spot about halfway through where you can sit on a rock and just listen to the water . Its not my favorite place to hike around here anymore but its fine for a quick leg stretch if you’re in the area and dont mind a little dirt.
Has two play areas for kids. The one next to the parking lot is the bigger one, it offers swings (infant and kid), slide , climbing stuff, monkey bars. Down the part across the bridge there is a smaller play area that just has infant swings a slide and a small climbing area. There is a dog park near the second play area with two areas (one for big dogs another for little), disc golf, horse shoes, archery, hiking trails, tennis courts, skate park and work out cycle. It is a huge park with lots to offer, however it is also very run down. There is graffiti all over the place, broken benches, dog poo, there are signs that need to have the glass cleaned because you cannot read what is inside. Make sure to bring walking shoes as the ground is not flat and sidewalks aren’t in all locations which brings out the nature feel. I really do enjoy bringing my little one.
Great park
Has hiking trails, biking, a tennis court a playground and a creek that runs through low enough for smaller kids (long as parents attend them)
Was staying in Ukiah the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend, on my way from Redwood State Park to Sacramento. Went for the City View trail Monday morning. Tried getting to the U via the U Access Trail, but it was getting too steep and long, and needed to be back at the hotel to checkout by 11, so didn’t go to the summit. Some people later told me that it was quite far, so good decision. Still a good trail run – 4 miles total with 900 ft elevation gain.
