Be prepared for a lot of walking and climbing steps. A lot of up hill. And try not to go when its 100° outside. Overall though its great. My legs and hips are gonna be sore for a few days. Lol.
Amazing team of people dedicated to helping preserve and maintain access to an otherwise pretty difficult cave to access in the first place. During these busy times such as July 4th, the guided tour becomes a faux self guided tour with little tour guides stationed around to help tell you about each of the rooms your in including with all of the aluminum railings with lights guiding you around! When you’re all done , you go outside on the mountain and can go back down and do it again! I really like how self paced it is and coupled with great views and great service including the bus and boat and all the stuff needed to take care of it all is just amazing! I also like the gift shop they had that had very reasonable prices gifts and even food if you like, of course made hot and fresh like my chicken bake and even soda was ok with free refills!
Shasta Cave Tour was definitely a highlight of our trip. There is lots of stairs. At one point we had to climb 80 stairs. Trip on the ferry was smooth. Bus ride up had a guide talking to us. Guide guide on the way down.
It was an enjoyable stop on the way to Oregon. A nice quick boat ride to the cavern base. Short walk to a transport bus to the entrance and the 45 minute to hour long tour begins. Having been to multiple caves across the states, this one has a little bit of everything for you to see, plus a trillion acre foot lake to enjoy.
One of the most natural and beautiful cave full of crystals made of lime stone!! It was definitely a must see place in mount shasta!!! Scenic boat ride to bus ride and final destination was something which amazed me.
