La Sirena is the passion project of the legendary Heidi Barrett (the original winemaker of Screaming Eagle). She has opened a great new tasting room close to Calistoga. Actually, it’s more than a tasting room — it’s also an art gallery featuring Heidi’s paintings (cool artwork!).
The wine is exceptional (of course) and so is the atmosphere. This is an incredibly welcoming place. Bravo!
La Sirena wine is always delicious, and the labels are always beautiful, so it should be no surprise that their new tasting room is a gorgeous (and I would definitely say a “don’t miss”) entry-point to downtown Calistoga. The space overlooks a stunning view of vineyards and the hills behind them, and the space is full of Heidi Barrett’s own original artwork, which is full of vibrant colors that set the tone for the wine they serve. Now, about the wine: it is simply the best. If you haven’t tried the La Sirena Cabernet Sauvignon, what are you even doing with your wine-loving life??? ALL of their wines are exquisite, and each suited to a different experience/meal, but I just cannot emphasize enough how delicious this Cab is. I think about it on random Tuesdays. I drink it on occasions that call for the best.
The tasting room is a light, airy venue with mermaids and sea creatures peppered throughout the space. It is charming and bright — a great place to kick off a day of wine tasting! The La Sirena team has made something beautiful (again! after making all of that beautiful wine!). Make sure to experience it for yourself!
I love it here! The wine was delicious and the vibes were divine. I really love the mermaids everywhere, the swings outside, and the variety of indoor +outdoor seating and options of areas to drink your wine in. I’ll be back.
Outstanding wines by the world class winemaker Heidi Barrett. I personally enjoyed the Moscato Azul and Chardonnay. We also had a tasting of the la Sirena Cabernet and the Barrett and Barrett Cabernet, both delicious! Tiffany was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable about Heidi’s wines and the history of Napa Valley and Calistoga wines. Also, while there, be sure to see all of the mermaids, swing on the swings, and admire Heidi Barrett’s artwork. This is also a very unique and intimate wine tasting experience compared to many of the other wineries in Napa Valley. If you’re nearby, you’re crazy to miss it.
We stopped in to the new tasting room after reading about it in The Chronicle. It’s unusual to find a tasting room that welcomes drop-ins, and La Sirena does with open arms. Tiffany guided us through the wines and shared an amazing amount of information and history that even the most seasoned wine aficionados may not already know. The artwork is absolutely stunning, the bright colors brought me back to vacation in Mexico. The view cannot be beat, with lovely tables alongside a working vineyard, or just sitting at the bar in the tasting room admiring the artwork. The wines are worth seeking out, we purchased several bottles to take home. We particularly enjoyed the Rosato and Moscato Azul.
