Reasonably prices for the area and they also seem to specialize in seafood like oysters and cocktails or fish filets grilled, breaded, Veracruz style and buttered with garlic!
I had the asada super taco and ceviche tostada de pescado. I’d recommend the ceviche without mayo!

I’ve spent years eating my way through taquerias across the Bay Area from San Jose, to the Mission, and everything in between, and La Paloma still holds its own with the best of them and will always have a special place in my heart. The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming every time, but the food is what keeps me loyal. The carne asada is consistently excellent; well seasoned, smoky, and cooked perfectly every visit. Their coctel de camarón is fresh, nicely chilled, with that bright tang and subtle spice that hits the spot. It’s the kind of authentic, no-frills taqueria you can always count on. Highly recommend.

Updated review: La Paloma’s taco salad $12.25 is listed under appetizers as tostada compuesta. This was a good taco salad. My meat choice was grilled chicken. My only complaint is that there wasn’t that much lettuce in the taco salad. The taco shell was freshly fried and very tasty. They were busy with a lot of to-go orders at around 7:30pm. By the time I left at around 8:15pm, the restaurant was mostly empty. Service was fine.
Original review: Deep fried burritos! It is listed under burrito/chimichanga on the menu. We tried one steak $12.25 and one shrimp $13.25 deep fried burrito. These were wonderful. All this time, I’m eating non-deep fried burritos when there are more variations. The tortilla was fluffy, easy to chew and the ends were the best part. It wasn’t oily at all. Our appetizer was a super nachos with carnitas $12. This was huge. We were both full walking out of there.
La Paoma was busy at lunch on a Wednesday. Service was excellent. The food didn’t take a long time to come out. Free chips and salsa when we sat down. This is a fun restaurant that will put you in a good mood the rest of the day. Thank you everyone at La Paoma.

I ordered a michelada, the combination plate with a chile relleno and chile verde, and a cold shrimp cocktail.
Before getting into the food, the atmosphere deserves mention. This is a no-frills Mexican restaurant in the best way. The place was clean, the waitress was incredibly attentive and sweet, and the cooks in the back were playing Mexican music and singing along as they worked. It felt genuinely authentic and reminded me why dining at local spots in Mexico is always such a great experience.
The shrimp cocktail was excellent with plenty of shrimp and avocado, well seasoned, refreshing, and satisfying. I would absolutely order it again.
The combination plate was far more food than I expected for the price and came with rice, beans, and a fresh salad. The chile verde had a nice kick, and the pork cubes were tender and flavorful. The chile relleno could have used a bit more cheese, but overall it was still very tasty and well prepared.
Solid portions, authentic vibes, friendly service, and comforting food. I’ll definitely be back.

We came from Los Angeles so it was our first time here. It was a 10 minute walk from our hotel. We were able to sit anywhere. Right as we sat they brought up chips and salsa and the menus. We took a few minutes to think about it and then we ordered. Drinks came out very fast. The super nachos took about a 5 minute wait to bring out. We finished them right as our main dishes came. The regular burrito, super burrito, and the supreme cocktail were very delicious and filling. The prices were fair for the amount of food. It did not feel stingy. Our drinks also had one free refill. We got our leftovers to go and were given to go bags and some mints. The service was quick and very friendly. The restrooms were fairly clean. The restaurant had some art and paintings which were very beautiful. Overall it was a great experience and if we’re ever back in the area it is a good spot to visit.
