Awesome food, unique homemade flavors. Everything came out hot and abundant. The chile rellenos and fish tacos did not disappoint. You could tell everything was from family recipes & authentic. The wine margaritas were extraordinary. Highly recommended!
In my almost 60 years of life of living in California, La Palapa is by far the best tasting Mexican restaurant out there! The flavors are authentic, and yet unique at the same time. If you are a fan of chili rellenos, you don’t know what you’ve been missing until you order one here. Prices are higher than average but portions are huge and we usually get two meals out of them. They’re a “mom and pop” restaurant, and service can take awhile when they’re really busy. But as far as we’re concerned, it’s worth the wait
After a 4-mile hike, we were starving and headed to a sandwich shop that had been highly recommended. When we arrived, the wait was over an hour! We noticed La Palapa just two doors down and decided to give it a try.
Coming from Texas, I wasn’t expecting much since we’re spoiled with great Mexican food—but what a wonderful surprise!
As soon as we sat down, they brought us a basket of warm, crispy chips with homemade salsa. It was absolutely delicious! We both ordered enchiladas—one with chicken and one with shredded beef—and they were outstanding. The meat was incredibly tender, flavorful, and tasted like it had been slow-cooked with care.
The service was just as impressive. Our server was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant, making us feel right at home.
I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. The food reminded me of a home-cooked meal in Mexico City—authentic, comforting, and full of flavor. We’ll definitely be back!
Very friendly and helpful staff. They make you feel right at home. Food was delicious. second time going and very pleased. Plan on coming hungry. Food is extremely generous! And very tasty. My girlfriend and i’s choice in Mexican food. Try the Palapa Burro. You won’t be disappointed.. Remember it’s Huge. Plan on taking half home.
Delicious Restaurant local in Baywood. These employees are very friendly and they get very busy I recommend stopping there when you’re in town prepare my mother is a local in Los Osos and I love to bring her there for dinner. Don’t forget to order the wine Margaritas they are very delicious. And I recommend the pozole especially in a cold evening.
