Ok so it is my first time entering this state park and it is absolutely beautiful. My partner and I decided to take the trail that led to a very popular waterfall attraction and enjoy the scenery. All was great and the people we passed were friendly enough, but a few bad apples.
As far as the trail or “loop,” well, it was advertised as mostly flat by local park rangers, but that is a bit of a stretch. Sure the first two miles from the entrance is mostly flat, but when you reach the crossroads, prepare for a steep incline that crests up and down; mostly up. On the way back, definitely go the opposite route of the loop as most of the uphill lasts only half a mile then is ninety-percent downhill.
Stretch beforehand, bigger people should be careful, bring REALLY GOOD hiking shoes, some snacks, plenty of water and watch your step.
We’ve been before, sadly you don’t find out that no dogs allowed on trail till you’re a few yards in. We watched several just walk on by the sign anyways. We were tempted, because we always keep dog on leash, as well as pick up possible waste, so it was disappointing to not be able to progress further
Great hiking area! Lots of spots on the side of the road for parking. The North Boundary Trail provides access to the North Trail and Falls Loop Trail where there is a nice waterfall.
