This place is a gem! They came all the way to my home on Cobb mountain in Lake County. Removed my old stove, and installed my new stove. My new stove was a stove purchased through Costco. We had pre ordered a stove , and had it stored in our garage . They were quite happy to install a stove that wasn’t even purchased through them! They were thorough and clean. Very timely. And they also moved my old stove to a spot that we wanted outside our home. I highly recommend this company!

I scheduled a site visit (called a “look at”) with the store through their shop in Ukiah. After a couple of back-and-forths to iron out the date & time of the site visit, I got one scheduled 2+ weeks out. The site visit went great, and the gentleman was very helpful. It was after the site visit that service completely fell off. Zero communication! No estimate, no callbacks after repeated attempts, no indication that they were booked up and had a backlog, no ability to talk with customers (or potential customers in my case), no followup /followthrough on anything. Zip. Zilch. Nada. If that is your prerogative, then go ahead. I’m sure their work is high quality. In terms of giving potential customers visibility into project lead times, cost or feasibility, 1/5 stars. I got the same feedback from another customer of their’s, so 2 does a trend make.

We just went to this store, walked in looked around a gentleman sitting at his desk wouldn’t even acknowledge our precense. Walked away back to our car and he didn’t even bat an eye at us walking away. Stay away from this place makes you feel like your a burden to them.

A rinnai heater I bought there was recalled and when I called to get it repaired and they said they could not fix until Jan 20, I mentioned that it was a recall due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning, and I was told to “not guilt trip them”. Clearly not where I will ever do business again. This is not how to treat a customer concerned about a renter’s safety.

Our experience with Hometown Store was positive from beginning to end. On our initial visit we were offered plenty of assistance but without being smothered. We were given lots of guidance and information to help us narrow down the many stove options and later had the opportunity to chat at length with Dave to make our choice.
We told them we’d be back in a few days to pick it up but when I discovered it was much heavier than anticipated, Dave talked us out of bumbling through moving it and told me his guys could save us the trouble. They stored it in their warehouse until I had everything ready at home. I gave them a call to arrange an appointment for delivery, and mere hours later two burly guys wheeled the stove in, placed it on our platform, and drove off without a hitch.
I would recommend this store to anyone on the market for heating stoves and accessories. They’re local, friendly, and competent.
