Iconic. Such good oysters and views of the bay. We came for the shuck it yourself Thursdays which was super fun (and a little cheaper). The staff will give you a tutorial if you haven’t done it before and shuckers are provided 🙂

I was so excited to finally come to this hog island oyster co after having it on my bucket list for so long. We drove over an hour to get there.

When we arrived there were several tables open but they said that we would have to wait 45 minutes to be safe. We waited from 1:30 to 2:40 and we were not seated. What is worse is that the tables that were open from the moment we arrived stayed unseated the whole time. They had told us that they were reserved but it was obviously a lie. Here is a photo of the tables that I was informed were “reserved” since 1:30 when we arrived.

Beautifully designed depot to pickup freshly harvested Hog Island Oyster bushels, the price is phenomenal when buying in bulk. (One shopper drove in from Sacramento to bring back for a barbecue the same day).

Clams, mussels and local Bodega Bay Dungeness Crabs are available by the pound, along with lemons, signature hogwash mignonette and ice. House-pickled veggies, smoked oysters, local cheeses — you’ve got appetizers covered to enjoy at home for sunset.

Throw in a shucker, a locally made oyster platter and signature Hog Island seafood cookbook — excellent gifts for that special someone or more importantly, yourself. Service here is VERY friendly.

Despite the crowds and extended wait times, the exceptional quality of the oysters makes it a worthwhile experience. The service is exemplary, with all staff members demonstrating outstanding dedication. While the oysters are undoubtedly the highlight, the team’s commitment truly defines this establishment. We encourage patrons to acknowledge their efforts, express gratitude, and tip generously.

Hog Island Oyster Farm is a must-visit for seafood lovers and anyone who enjoys a beautiful coastal setting. The oysters here are incredibly fresh—harvested straight from the water and served with clean, briny flavors that highlight the true taste of the bay. The shuck-and-serve style makes the experience fun and interactive, and it’s easy to pair the oysters with a glass of wine or beer while soaking in the stunning views of Tomales Bay. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a casual afternoon with family or friends. Parking can get tight and reservations are recommended, but it’s absolutely worth planning ahead. A true Northern California gem!
