Absolutely amazing! This place deserves 10 stars! He is a master of his art! We ordered multiple items everything we ordered was delicious. Undescribable, perfect flavoring! The best food we’ve ever had! I promise if you eat here you won’t be disappointed! We will be going back very often! Just a heads up if it is your first time they have a grab and go on the main street with a few tables. In the back alley there is the pickup for the online orders. It’s a black screen door. I’m only adding this because we went on the main street because we were unsure. And we bought more from the grab and go before we picked up our order in the back!

easily the best sushi in town, maybe the best around! the food is always gorgeous, fresh, and clearly made with much love and care. absolutely excellent, can’t recommend enough. personal favorite is the mendo popper, but it’s all fantastic

This is one of the best japanese restaurants in Mendocino County! Definitely the best sushi in Willits. Pickup only, can’t wait until they move so I can sit and have sake too!

Honestly, I’m blown away by the quality of the food. This place is just as good, if not better than much of the Japanese food establishments we can find in the Bay Area. The produce and fish used is so fresh and what you get is honestly amazing for the price point.
Inari and ikura were outstanding. The salmon onigiri might honestly be the best onigiri I’ve had on this side of the Pacific. Black cod bento box was ridiculous: the cod was so incredibly tender, the array of vegetables was a work of art, and the portions generous enough for two! Also, the rice is honestly so good. I could eat that plain. We came here twice in the three days we were at Willits. Can’t wait for their eventual expansion.
Also, I get the sense that the team behind Hatake are wonderful people. Thank you Tony and Chef Ryo for the wonderful food and even preparing dishes on New Year’s Eve.
PS: my gf asked me to write this so she could compliment Chef Ryo and express to him how good his food was. She also wanted to say we only meant to get a roll before we left, but we ended up ordering another bento, an onigiri, the mendo poppers, and ikura. Hoping you read this when you’re less busy, Chef Ryo!

Best sushi in Mendocino county. Order online then pick up. The owner said that soon they will have a space with tables. Local mushroom tempura was incredible..had vegan sushi for the first time, it was amazing. And all of the fish was so fresh and delicious.
