I’m not a snob about hotels and basically pick it based on distance or where the rest of the family is staying. So, while attending a wedding, this was the hotel that the family picked and I was so surprised at how elegant, clean, modern, and lovely it was. They had a fantastic breakfast every morning with protein plus waffles, bagels, breads, scones, muffins, fruits, oatmeal, and more. Afterwards, I sat and worked on my computer for a while on more than one occasion and I saw how meticulously the staff cleaned up the entire area and lobby, moving every table and chair and getting into all the nooks and crannies. No wonder the place is so clean. The rooms were also absolutely great with fresh lemons and a modern look. This is the kind of hotel that you will stay at one time and then keep coming back to you. Thank you for making our stay great.

Of course I forgot to take a picture of the food and all the amenities because I was so busy with family things and took a few pictures of family that don’t need to be posted. So I’m adding a funny picture of the gentleman who ate breakfast and had an interesting place to store his laptop

“Hospitality is almost impossible to teach. It’s all about hiring the right people.” Danny Meyer

We felt welcomed the minute we stepped into the lobby of the hotel. Nate gave us wonderful customer service throughout our stay. We loved relaxing in the pool and in the whirlpool after a full day of being on the go. The location of the hotel is great since it is just off of Highway 101, and it was easy to access the highway. We stay at Hampton Inns a lot, and this place felt like “home.” Thanks for the great hospitality!!! I highly recommend this particular Hampton Inn.

Passing thru, this was a great stay. We’ve stayed at mostly Hamptons for the past 30+ days. This is one of the better ones. Great guy at the desk, got a spacious room. Only downside is their elevator is down, and he told us at check in. We were okay with that. Don’t mind stairs. Breakfast was a expected, and I love that you have the small hazelnut creamer for coffee. Many Hamptons are doing away with them. Clean and safe area. Great job Arcata Hampton!

Got a studio room for myself and two kiddos. One of the best nights sleep any of us had in awhile. The beds were super comfortable. The pool was heated and comfortable for swimming. Breakfast was delicious and we were able to find something for everyone (one of us has celiac so it’s a plus!). Kiddos had a great time and have already been asking when we can go back.
Close drive to Arcata for good food and not far from various hiking trails either.

Unfair practices and price-gouging – Avoid this hotel

We experienced undeniable corporate greed at this property. We booked a confirmed, non-refundable rate via Booking.com. While driving to the hotel, they sent a cancellation email, though the app still showed it as active. Fearing a double-charge, we showed up to sort it out.
When we arrived around 8:00 PM, they confirmed it was canceled due to supposed problems with the payment method, but admitted they had some rooms left. However, management completely refused to honor our original rate or even come close to it. Instead, they tried to leverage our stranded situation to charge us nearly double— $400 a night for a Hampton Inn—essentially treating the last remaining rooms like a predatory walk-in auction for the highest bidder.
The front-desk attendant, Nate, was incredibly nice and empathetic. He actually called the owners on our behalf to find a reasonable solution, but the owners flatly refused…

We ended up walking away and checking into a different hotel nearby. When we told the staff at the new hotel what happened, they smiled and mentioned that this specific Hampton Inn is notorious for these exact unfair tactics. Word around town is that these owners operate two or three other local properties with the same exact greedy policies.

In many years of extensive travel, we have rarely encountered such unempathetic and opportunistic practices.

I would strongly recommend that you consider another option for your stay.
