Was in town & wanted fish tacos before driving 3 hours back home. When I walked into the restaurant, the place smelled delicious! It made me very excited for the meal. The salsa for the chips actually had a spice to them – which I loved!!
I ordered the fish tacos & when they came out, the plate was super hot (I was warned)! The rice & beans were good & warm (nothing stood out though) but the fish tacos were so hot that I had to wait a bit before eating them (not a bad problem to have). I wasn’t too sure what to expect for the fish tacos but when receiving them, it was slightly disappointing to see that the fish tacos were so plain… The fish itself was lightly seasoned & the 2 additional salsas that were brought to my table definitely brought more flavor. Both the tomatillo & Maria salsas were very good but I couldn’t decide which was my favorite so I just kept alternating between the 2. The Mexican salad, of course, brought out more dimension & made it refreshing when added to the tacos. I think a creamy salsa or avocado would’ve made the meal better but I forgot to ask. If I was craving fish tacos (the thing I order most), I can’t say I would come back here for them, but I would come back & try a different dish from them.
The staff was lovely & attentive!
BATHROOM:
I did stop by the bathroom before heading out but there was no air circulation in there at all & on a 100+ degree day it felt like a sauna… in a bad way… Came into the restaurant at 1:30pm on a Sunday & the bathroom trashes were overflowing, there was no toilet seat covers, & it gave an overall sticky feeling. Unfortunately, neither of the stalls had a purse hook on the door or walls either. The restaurant itself is very cute, but the poor attention to the bathroom was a little surprising.
Not a great experience there at all, the window we sat by had active termites and droppings in the window seal, i understand you can’t control where termites happen at but come on at least clean it up or block that table off. My wife got menudo and it smelled really bad because they didn’t properly clean the tripe before cooking it. Also we asked for a refill on our chip basket and when we got the bill we were charged for the chips, which has never happened, I asked why and she said they are only refilled if you have a big party, the waitress could have communicated to us there was a charge on the refill of chips but she didn’t say anything, it was a very bad experience, I am not happy about spending any money here.
We had a very disappointing experience at Hacienda Tequilas. The issues started immediately when we were seated at a dirty wobbly table with dirty
sticky menus.
The food only made matters worse. The chips were incredibly stale, and the ceviche I ordered was concerningly raw—beyond the typical preparation. When I reluctantly sent it back and asked to exchange it for a different dish, the waitress had to check with the manager. She returned to say they would not offer a refund or a price adjustment, but would allow me to order something else and regardless of how low the price, be charged the $22 price point of the ceviche.
I ended up with basic cheese enchiladas (which normally cost significantly less), essentially paying a premium for a much cheaper dish just to have something edible. Between the lack of cleanliness and the management’s “no return” policy on poor-quality food, we won’t be returning.
Amazing Mexican food restaurants. Spice level can be adjusted according to your taste! Chips and salsa are just amazing to start with. Got hacienda burrito which was absolutely delicious and steak which was very well prepared.
As a Mexican who knows Mexican food this was one of the best authentic Mexican foods I ever had! My brother and I are from Sacramento and had the blessing and chance of eating here after a job we had in fresno and what a experience and treat it was! The food, the service, the atmosphere everything was amazing! Ill definitely have to come back to Fresno for this amazing place! Thank you Hacienda Tequilas! Everything was delicious!
