Have shopped here for years and year. Today’s experience most likely ended that. Today I had my pup with me in an enclosed stroller. She had let out a quick bark and immediately stopped. After she had already been quiet and I was shopping an off duty manager came up to me and said if she barks I have to leave. Ok don’t ask if she’s a service animal or anything , so I put my stuff back and left. I called to complain and the manager I spoke to on the phone proceeded to inform that she was an expert in service dog behavior since she has known people who have them and that service dogs NEVER EVER BARK. Interesting I wonder how it is that those dogs alert the owners when they are about to have a seizure, or a diabetic episode? Have literally seen how they will run through a house barking like mad to alert that a child was going to be ill. But I am not the expert I guess the manager is. She also doubled down and said that if any dog is a service in training dog they are not allowed into the store until fully trained. Again crazy because I see people with their service training dogs in stores all the time. But again I guess the Grocery Outlet manager is the expert. What is really annoying is that they have people in there daily walking their dogs on leashes. Getting their slobber and hair all over everything peeing on merchandise and yet a pup fully contained in a stroller is the line in the sand. Oh and the manager hung up on me when I mentioned that to her. I guess she doesn’t like facts. So those of you who have service dogs or have dogs training to be service dogs know that GROCERY OUTLET LAKEPORT DOES NOT CARE. God forbid you have an emergency in their store and your dog alerts to it, the management will kick you out instead of calling for help.

The store and the cashiers are great but the management is awful. Mel and Carrie do not care about their customers and have a terrible attitude.

Don’t ever try to return something here, even if you have spent thousands of dollars at the store they will make you feel like a criminal for trying to return something.

I’d like to start this review by saying that this is really the only bad experience I’ve had with this store, but in my opinion it warrants the 1 star. As someone without a vehicle, I have to walk everywhere. For this reason, I wear a backpack to hold my valuables, groceries, etc. The security guard here forces me to leave my back pack on the floor near him while I shop. All while women get to bring their purses in without anyone even batting an eyelash. This is blatant sexism. My backpack never leaves my back while in ANY store. I never have an issue anywhere except here. There was even a woman rummaging through her purse right in front of him without anything being said. Most purses are open (not zipped like my bag) and in a position that allows easy theft. A backpack does not. If you’re going to tell all guys they cant bring their bag with them inside, while letting almost every single woman that comes in slide because they call their bag a “purse” instead of a backpack. This is a sexist policy, and I do believe the courts would agree.

I’d also like to say that I don’t fault the “security guard” for any of this, if that’s what he was told to do. If he’s just doing this because he thinks he’s the RoboCop of Grocery Outlet, then he should be educated on this and stop doing it. I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble, I would just like to shop in peace, with my possessions in my possession. The safety of my property is my responsibility and until you ban all women from bringing in their bags, I have the right to bring mine in as well. I don’t mind having a chat with corporate if needed.
