After seeing so many Friedman’s shirts the same color as my old moving company, I finally found a small but important — and convenient — circumstance to go into inside a Friedman’s. Looking at the clothing section, my immediate reaction was “I’m sure glad I went to Walmart for my unintended socks souvenir,” for they didn’t have any. As expected, I thought it was just a Home Depot or Lowe’s in Green. I’ve seen pretty much the same clothes at my local Jackson’s Hardware in San Rafael so I had every right to expect clothing available, especially with the shirts. And, I once bought some souvenir socks at a a Truckee hardware store. Ok, the peanut butter M&M’s were the perfect ulterior circumstantial item. The store just had nothing of any category to write home about.

I went there to buy a weed wacker, and I did. It cost over $500. During the check out process they couldn’t scan the code for the warranty because an employee had put an overstock sticker on it. So, after I paid, they had me go to a computer screen by the tools to sign me up for my warranty, but they didn’t know how to use it. One guy asks the team for assistance over the radio. There’s a lot of chatter over the radio, which I could hear. Another employee shows up. Two different managers came by, said ya you have to scan the tool and battery separately since the code on the box is covered then left. The guy helping me opens the box and drops the battery on the floor. Then he says my shift is over, this guy can help you. Other guy can’t figure out the system for my warranty either but assures me the process worked and I’ll get an email shortly. Never got an email. Called the store two days later. Talked to a manager who remembered me (one of the ones who walked by but didn’t help) and she told me they couldn’t do anything and I have to call Stihl for the warranty. I called Stihl and they told me the warranty has to be set up at the store during the time of purchase. So, I have a $500 power tool with a potentially damaged battery with no warranty. Nope. I went to return it, unused, with my receipt and was surrounded and interrogated by three employees and two managers. This was a loss prevention crack down on a frequent customer with a receipt due to multiple employees incompetence. I myself am a retail manager of more than 20 years, and this experience was very telling of the level of inadequate training going on at this location. Total lack of customer care. You can do better. Much better.

Basically good. Prices somewhat high, about the same as Home Depot, much more than Walmart. Periodic percentage off sales are great for high priced items.

Friedman is the greatest place to get you things you need for household building patios swimming pools decks chickamauga and other things please visit it’s a nice place to shop if you’re in the building or such.
