Oh my god you guys this Mexican restaurant is an absolute hidden gem on Mount Diablo Boulevard right here in Lafayette California like seriously I had the pleasure of eating this incredibly tasty shredded beef super burrito and they start you off with these amazing chips and salsa for the appetizer which is just beautiful and the menu is insane because they have plenty of options for literally everyone from beef and chicken to seafood and vegetarian and don’t even get me started on the drinks because they have all kinds of wine options and beer options and liquor options like they just have all the options for the food and the drinks plus they have a couple of dessert options and so many incredible happy hour deals going on so honestly you would be a total fool to not come here I highly highly recommend it and I cannot thank the staff enough for their courteous service and how incredibly efficient they were and just how kind and caring they were it is amazing
We were familiar with the El Talpense that opened up in Berkeley a few years ago on Euclid Ave in the former Celia’s.
Their new location in Lafayette on Mt. Diablo Blvd is a clean bright place with outdoor patio. The food we had was delicious and tasty! The server Raoul was great and answered our questions about the menu items.
The food was OK, not great. But maybe I didn’t order the right thing? There is an extensive menu. Many of the items just had an option of chicken, ground beef, cheese or picadillo, which I thought was a boring range. There were many other items on the “house specials” list that had more options. I was in a hurry, so I ordered a “super burrito”. These had more interesting meat options. I tried Al Pastor. It was tasty, but not great. It is a “dry” burrito, no sauce, and with Al Pastor as an option, it was just too dry. But I will admit, that was a huge burrito! If I come back, I’ll try some of the special items, perhaps. Service was OK but not very welcoming.
We were driving back from a doctor’s appointment at Kaiser and decided to stop in to try something new. We had never been to this place and it did not disappoint. I had the taco trio and it was out of this world. I highly recommend this place for anybody looking for some quality Mexican food.
Taking some time away from work. It’s time to get my food critic on. In the heart of downtown Lafayette lies this gem of a restaurant. Faint Latin instrumental music can be heard in the background, while enjoying either spacious indoor or dog friendly outdoor seating. The outside is complete with beautiful flower beds and colorful paper art blowing in the breeze.
The food is incredible. The menu is abundant with items that will blow your hair back. The first time I was here my girlfriend and I went big, with the Molcajetes and Carne Asada. We clinked a couple of Coronas and let the cooks take us away to a little Mexican paradise right here in Lafayette. Service was fast and friendly. Complimentary chips and 3 kinds of salsa for anyone’s taste (I remember asking for more chips twice, and it was no problem). The lunch special menu from 11-3 is great for the pocketbook with no loss in quality of food. Also, a free parking lot right next door!
Taco Tuesdays after 4, mimosas on the weekends for cheap, and events like live mariachi music for cinco de mayo make this place a community staple in my eyes.
