Nice spot for a stop off of hwy101. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Excellent friendly service. I recommend the salsa roja enchiladas.

I really enjoy my time here..and the food…and the beer taps! The food is always very thoughtfully presented and consistent flavors. The variety of salsas with your chips + beans, just for snacks?! Who does that?! Only El Chicano. Seriously, I have traveled the country and have never gotten beans to snack on too. Plus, they are delicious freaking beans! Clearly family run with love, I really dig that since I come from the same life in an Italian restaurant. BEER TAPS MATTER! and El Chicano does NOT disappoint!! When those beautiful taps are running they are the most crisp and clean taps in town. They even serve Sierra Nevada Celebration!! My holiday favorite (especially on tap). I wanted to make it a point to come home and write this review. Well deserved. Try El Chicano.
I’m not vegetarian, but my husband is.
    Vegetarian options: several
Quick points: instead of meat there are added vegetables to popular Mexican dishes such as; carrots, baby corn & mushrooms and zucchini. No complaints. He definitely appreciates the efforts of providing great efforts for added vegetables! Though beans are a renowned source of protein, it would be great to see some added vegetable proteins in addition to the veggies or instead of the veggies to the menu too. Items such as possibly tofu or (preferably) pea protein crumbles that can be used similarly to ground beef.

P.S. try the chilaquiles with a fried over medium egg.

@americasbestrestaurants you missed a spot when you came through!!

Delicious food at reasonable prices. Loved the chips and salsas especially the refried beans to dip. The chimichanga was fabulous and so were the tacos and burritos, which we unfortunately didn’t take a picture of.

Amazing food and service was quick and courteous. One of the best Mexican restaurants for sure. They give complementary chips and salsa like many other places but they give pinto bean paste too which along with the 3 salsas tastes so good. Their entree portions are huge. Everything tasted delicious esp the chicken mole. I requested them to make it spicy and it was on point. We also ordered veggie and chicken fajitas. Everyone loved it.

Do stop by at this restaurant when you are in town.

Hands down, best Mexican food I’ve ever had. If you like saucy food, made from scratch, tons of flavor, and authentic, this is the place.
Totally impressed by the multiple salsas and bean dip, and fresh chips.
The mole was outstanding, my green enchiladas were killer!!! I love that we can choose black beans. The portions were huge! Service was great.
Only downside is cash only tips, and we didn’t have any cash!!!! Bring cash!!!
