Different winery’s have stated that Diamond Ridge Vineyards volcanic background is the best red grape soil in Lake County as well as being some of the oldest. These soils develop deep minerality in wines, red and white as well. Our Merlot has been considered the equivalent to a Borolo in character big and rich.

The ranch has a most distinguished list of wineries in it’s portfolio.

The latest interest is in our volcanic hillsides, “EGS” Enhanced Geothermal Systems, being the venue.
Drilling wells thousands of feet deep into the hot rock under the Lake County volcanic field. Water is pumped from the surface down these wells heating it as it passes through the subsurface rock where it heats to 200 an 300 degrees centigrade. These hot waters are returned to the surface through additional wells and passed through turbines generating electricity before returning to below ground to reheat again. Somewhat self contained.

The ranch has five deep wells delivering one thousand four hundred gallons of fresh water per minute, along with a 30 acre foot reservoir with pumping station and filtration.

Additional benefits include a PG&E transmission line running through the entire length of the property north to south. As well, the eastern property line is contiguous to Hwy 53 on it’s western edge for two miles running north to the CA Hwy 20 junction.

A great property for a winery, a developer, or geothermal interest.
It was a fantastic cattle ranch prior to the vineyard.
