I snagged breakfast reservation and we learned that they shifted to reservations for their soft opening after they got slammed a few weeks ago – they explained that the Japanese breakfast takes time to set up and once we got the we totally understood. It’s a lot of little dishes, gorgeous to look at. We lucked out with only two tables being open for breakfast. We also ordered the chicken katsu curry and chicken nanban bowl. Those dishes were great, a good amount of food for the price. The chef came out give us the chicken bowl and she was so kind and welcoming. In fact everyone who works there was kind and welcoming. Can’t wait to go back.

I came across a TikTok about this new modern Japanese restaurant, and I immediately wanted to try it. The interior felt cozy and right now, there are only about 10-12 tables (said to have an outdoor seating with a garden opening soon). I was glad I reserved on the day I went because the restaurant was filled and wait time was about 40 minutes for 2 people.

As for the service, I don’t know if our waitress was stressed from it being busy (seemed like the manager and was training someone else while taking our order), but she did come off as off putting. They just came up to us without asking if we were ready to order, and when my partner ordered his dish, they didn’t disclose when they were asking that adding on a sausage would be an additional ~$5.

Overall, the food was worth a try, but we don’t think it’s worth $70+ for 2 people. The Japanese Carbonara wasn’t cooked properly as it looked scrambled rather than smooth. It also had mushrooms which wasn’t on the description.

There were also people crowding around the tables since checking in was in the back. I think we’ll wait until grand opening to visit again, and hopefully it’s a lot better than what we were given today.

Amazing food! I’m a picky eater and yet I loved everything that was served. I had dishes I’d never seen before, like deep fried lotus root and fries with a French onion dip, that were delicious. The quantity was also impressive, we had lots of yummy leftovers. I absolutely will come back to try another delicious new dish!

Cute Japanese restaurant that’s in soft opening, one block away from University Ave. Their soft opening lunch menu has quite a few options, ranging from Japanese empanadas to pasta. We opted for their omurice and Japanese carbonara, and it didn’t disappoint! The lunch set came with a house salad and potato salad that were both tasty. The omurice had a fluffy egg with a really good gravy sauce over it. The carbonara was creamy without being heavy, with a unique corn-taste to it that reminded me of corn portage soup. Both were really good dishes that we wouldn’t hesitate to order again. Good service and ambiance. Highly recommend giving them a try!

Real gem for the neighborhood to have the elegant but casual Japanese eatery featuring curry, pasta, and sandwiches

Carbonara pasta (5/5) – I normally don’t like it but it was incredible with a slight Japanese twist with mushrooms

Tonkatsu sandwich (4/5) – nailed the flavor but it was a little soggy and could use mustard

Omurice (4/5) – tad on the sweet side but overall perfectly executed

Curry pork empanada (4/5) – very well done and unique

All dishes came with a very refreshing side salad. Service and atmosphere was a real delight too. Price very reasonable given quality

    Can’t wait to try more!
