Really great located, nice and smooth check in, rooms refurbished and renovated. Cleanliness was only okay though. From the buildings it’s not really appealing and nice looking but for us it was okay since we mostly stayed in the hotel for sleeping. I find it quite odd that all rooms have balconies (major plus) but no furniture at all. Like not even two cheap chairs.
But what left me the most surprised are the signs you find across the hotel surroundings that a) the area has chemicals which are known to cause cancer or other severe diseases and b) even more strange, that the food and drinks they serve can also contain cancer causing chemicals. LOL like why would you willingly and knowingly serve food and drinks which can cause these harms?
Great experience! The service was amazing, and I especially want to recognize Melissa for her outstanding customer service. She was super sweet, friendly, and welcoming, and she went above and beyond to make sure everything was great. You can tell she genuinely cares about the guests and takes pride in what she does. Employees like Melissa make such a big difference in the overall experience. She definitely deserves a raise! The hotel is lucky to have someone like her on their team. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!
Great hotel for the price. Was a little turned off by not being able to upgrade our room. We booked through Expedia..so we know what we are going to get. My wife really wanted a view. The guy said 3rd floor overlooking the river and golf course. I already kinda knew what we were going to get by the banter. Hour later I went down and asked for a upgrade, knew it would be a charge since we used the room. But still wanted the upgrade. Was offered a incoherent word salad about why we couldn’t. So we just walked away. It would have been a simple fix on….a room with a view, pool or sunrise..or sunset. Anything but the tree line.
We stayed at three different hotels during our time in San Diego, and this one was by far the most convenient for getting to all our planned activities around town.
The hotel entrance features some really impressive landscaping and hardscaping, with tons of succulents and plants that you just don’t see back on the East Coast, plus huge flowing waterfalls both inside and outside.
Parking was $28 a day for self-parking, and it’s even slightly reduced if you’re an IHG member. It was the cheapest parking of the three hotels we stayed at and the easiest to drive in and out of, though the parking spaces are tiny and you can’t open your car doors all the way if cars are parked next to you.
The room itself was well-cleaned and spacious, though the hotel is definitely on the older side. You can tell in things like the slower elevators and the older electrical outlets and switches—nothing that can really be fixed without a major renovation. On the bright side, the included Wi-Fi was very fast at easily over 20 mbps with no noticeable lag.
The central courtyard area is very pretty, featuring grassy spaces, a pool, and a spa. The gym is small, but it gets the job done if you need to squeeze in a workout, and it conveniently has a water bottle refill station (which is the only spot in the entire hotel that has one).
One quick tip for checking out: keep an eye out for a luggage cart, as they are hard to come by and tend to get left in random spots by other guests. Overall, the stay was excellent, though I’d give it a 4 out of 5 simply because the amenities could use an update.
First off, I want to thank Larry for giving my Wife and I a great experience. My expectations for a happy hour were normal, figured a few drinks and maybe some food. Though when it says strike up a conversation with Larry for Thursday’s, you really need to do that if you’re staying on a Thursday night. Super cool guy with amazing life experience that you wouldn’t expect. Not to mention he’s the best bartender I’ve ever experienced. Listen to his recommendations! You can’t go on living life without meeting Larry I’m telling you!
For the hotel itself, I greatly enjoyed my stay. The rooms were clean, and housekeeping was great everyday for room service! I loved how all the rooms have balconies, makes for a relaxing time outside the room. The location was convenient, and all the staff were pleasant. Whenever I’ll be going to the San Diego area, this will be my first choice in looking for a place to stay. Thank you Crowne Plaza San Diego for giving my Wife and I an amazing week!
