the reception desk person was great and the woman that worked in the lobby restaurant was exceptional they really know what customer service is about people should learn from them
UPDATE (July 2026):
Returned for another stay, and unfortunately, it was a noticeable step down from my last visit. While I expected the same aged room, this visit brought clear hygiene and maintenance issues that are hard to overlook:
Mold on the shower curtain: Finding visible mold on the curtain was a immediate red flag.
Deep-set dirt & grime: The bathroom floor along the base of the tub has heavy dirt and buildup accumulated in the seams. It looks like it gets a basic wipe-down, but the years of neglected cleaning in the corners really show.
Persistent smell: A persistent, off-putting odor lasted through the night, which seemed to be coming directly from the bathroom sink drain.
Worn-out fixtures & furniture: The peeling/scuffed finish on the bathroom door handle area, stained carpets, and torn upholstery on the Ottoman (see photos) show how badly this property needs a full renovation.
Housekeeping seems to be fighting an uphill battle against an aging building, but issues like mold and persistent drain odors cross into basic quality standards. I’ll definitely be looking elsewhere for my next stay in Chico.
I recently stayed here for a business trip, and while the hotel is perfectly functional, it is in desperate need of a modern renovation.
On the positive side, the housekeeping and staff are doing a fantastic job. The property is technically very clean, and you can tell the team cares about maintaining the space.
However, the physical infrastructure and design of the rooms feel stuck in the mid-2010s. The bedroom furniture is heavy, dark wood that feels very dated, and the curved grey and yellow seating fabric shows noticeable wear and tear. The bathroom is particularly old-school, featuring an old beige plastic tub surround and a granite-topped partition wall separating the toilet that screams old corporate design. The hallway carpets also feature a dated, busy geometric pattern.
It works fine for a quick, predictable business stay because of the cleanliness, but the property ultimately feels very tired and worn out. If you are looking for a fresh, modern environment, this location will feel a bit disappointing until a full property refresh happens.
Clean and comfortable—loved the complimentary Starbucks coffee in the lobby!
On the outskirts of town but only 1.2 miles from the Sierra Nevada Brewery, which is outstanding.
This hotel itself wasn’t horrible, but nothing special. The most annoying and disappointing part was the pool was closed the whole time. We stayed as part of a wedding block, they weren’t told the pool was closed. We weren’t told it was closed. No where on the website or app did it say the pool was closed. I think its rude not to disclose that. We have kids who really wanted to swim and were so disappointed. We 100% would have stayed somewhere else had we known beforehand, which I’m sure the hotel knows which is why they dont disclose it to anyone. Super shady and messed up. The stay wasn’t horrible other than that, but because of that will not choose to stay here again.
This is a very discontinued stay. I booked this place because of the indoor pool and the Bistro restaurant inside, neither were open during my entire stay. I was told I could go to any nearby hotel and use their pool. Really their indoor pool on a 100 degree day.
The fridge i. The unit was overheating, so they replaced it but still it did not keep the drinks cold. The pillows were flat, so flat I thought It was no different than sleeping without a pillow. My key card stopped working the day before I was due to check out. I paid a good amount of money and it was the worst place I’d ever stayed. I will never stay here again. The hotel service made the bed, but never replaced the glasses we used, they did not clean while we were there and I made sure to pick up my personal belongings so that they could. I attached how the beds were made after housekeeping came one day. Smh. Marriott, I’ve had too many issues with your hotel lines that I will not be staying at another Marriot owned hotel again!
