We discovered Charbay whiskey for the first time at the Autumn Food & Wine event at NorthStar Tahoe in or around 2015. I remember tasting the whiskey for the first time and thought something was very unique about it. After finding out it was distilled from finished beer, that made sense why it had so many layers of flavors on my palette! Charbay is more than a distillery — it’s a story of family, creativity, and evolution. With world-class spirits that span from unconventional whiskeys, to flavored vodkas, rums, brandy and tequila all made by Marko (who is a 13th generation master distiller) running the Copper Alambic still, & his wife Jenni at the helm. Charbay delivers both quality and character in every bottle. Charbay is a standout example of what happens when tradition meets innovation — with a generous spirit (literally and figuratively) all the way through. Both Marko & Jenni are down to earth friendly, and fun with great spirit (no pun intended) we are honored to have met them along with their wonderful delicious libations.

Cannot recommend Charbay enough! Both for their outstanding products (that green tea vodka, R5 whiskey, and of course the brandies!) and services. I’ve been using blending and bottling my own brandy with Charbay for 4 years, and what a rough 4 years it was! Not only has my Frisco Brandy won gold medals, a NY Times review, and many other accolades, the team has been incredibly flexible and supportive of the process. Marko, Jenni, Johnny, and the rest of the team really are amazing!
