Fantastic dining experience! My friend took me here while visiting from out of town. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfort, great vibe for a relaxed evening with friends. The service was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish.
The crab cakes were outstanding—packed with jumbo blue crab meat and beautifully prepared. What really elevated the dish was the cream corn accompaniment. Its sweet, creamy richness paired perfectly with the delicate crab. The mango salmon was equally impressive. The sweetness of the mango complemented the salmon perfectly, adding a bright, refreshing contrast that made every bite enjoyable.
The restaurant also offered an excellent wine selection with plenty of options to pair with seafood and other menu items. Will definitely be stopping again on my next trip to Arcata.
We absolutely love The Carriage House! This little Sunny Brae jewel is elegant, chic, and wonderfully welcoming. It’s such a nice addition to the neighborhood, and we really enjoy the warm, stylish atmosphere every time we go.
The menu is a bit of a mishmash of different styles, and we do find ourselves wishing it were just a little more adventurous, but everything we’ve tried has been solid. The short ribs with mashed potatoes are definitely our favorite. Our kids enjoyed their pasta, and my husband really liked his Philly cheesesteak. We haven’t tried the pizzas yet, but plan to next time.
The service is friendly, though we’d love to see it feel a touch more polished to match the elegance of the space. They have a cute patio that isn’t open yet — we’re really looking forward to that eventually opening because it will add even more charm.
Overall, it’s a beautiful spot with great potential, and we’ll definitely keep coming back to see how it grows!
WOW. We just had dinner at the Carriage House in Sunny Brae. I had the cordon Bleu pasta and he had the Braised Short Ribs. We shared the calamari & I had a cucumber margarita. Everything was fantastic! Service, drinks, food – excellent! We will be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tried to have dinner here. This place would be perfectly fine for an unsophisticated palate or diner. Otherwise…a hard pass.
Happy hour menu items were not available, the dinner menu was lackluster, the atmosphere ho-hum, and the sophomoric bartenders were confused about how to make basic cocktails.
We also heard that the chef left when management changed hands…so…we fled next door and had an absolutely fantastic (yet spendy; if you go for appetizers + full bottles of wine = around $400 for three people) meal.
Went in for happy hour and dinner. The old fashions were delicious along with everything else. Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, great service and the food did not disappoint. My only complaint was they forgot to put the chèvre cheese on my salad.
