Cafe Waterfront in Eureka is a great spot with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. Sitting near the water while eating makes the whole experience feel calm and scenic, especially on a nice day.
The food is fresh and well-prepared, with a good variety of seafood and classic cafe-style options. Portions are satisfying and everything came out tasting great.
The staff was friendly and attentive, and service was smooth even when it got busy. It’s a nice place to unwind, enjoy a meal, and take in the waterfront views of Old Town.
Overall, a solid choice if you’re looking for good food and a peaceful dining experience right by the water.
The only thing good about this place is that it’s a thirty second walk to an ice cream shop for you to flush out your taste buds after experiencing this mess. The ice cream isn’t particularly good either, but it’s not bad enough for me to write a review about it. I don’t even usually leave reviews, which should tell you how this meal went. That’s the extent of the praise I have for Cafe Waterfront: Oyster and Bar Grill.
For starters, ironically, the oysters here are garbage. Each one was tiny, fishy, and carelessly shucked. Every shell contained fragments that should have been removed before serving. The dozen oysters arrived suspended in a pool of half-melted ice: Careless, sloppy, and incredibly disappointing.(It’s also $37 per dozen; the menu price has changed.)
For the entree, i ordered the shrimp stuffed croissant. When you imagine a shrimp salad, what appears in your mind? If you thought of sad bits of tomato and tiny shrimp drowned in mayonnaise, congratulations—you deserve a Nobel Prize!!! I could not finish it. In fact, I genuinely felt sick trying. The croissant itself was fine, which I suspect is because it was the only component not actively prepared by the kitchen. That’s just my spite talking, sorry.
Two generations sat at this table, and neither left satisfied. They noted the clam chowder as overly salty, the bread arrived cold, and service moved at an embarrassing pace. We had to remind the server about items from our order on two separate occasions.
As working people, we deserve to spend our money on food we actually enjoy. The reviews initially drew me in, but they did not reflect my experience whatsoever. This restaurant just made me very sad. Would not recommend.
HOLY CRAP!!! I was so happy how good the fish & chips were and the clam chowder. Very, very pleased. Also the customer service was amazing. The girls in there were so friendly. I do like the atmosphere but the live music they are playing is a little bit too loud for such a small space, but it really is an amazing place to eat.
Beautiful architecture & delicious food!! Best clam chowder I have ever had! My boyfriend & I got the Combination Plate & Smoked Brie. Nice ambiance & good vibes. Has the history of the building on the back of the menu also!
I just had breakfast here and found the food and service to be excellent. There is a number of dishes that are seafood focused but you can find other options. The coffee was so good.
