I really love that place, went there 2 times – last time was 8 years ago and this week it was like it was in my memories. Nice big trees, lots of shade, pretty calm even if it was full. Showers were good too.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in June 2026. We were in campsite 45 which was within this cool cul-de-sac within the campground. We truly appreciated the flushing toilets and hot water. The bathrooms are pretty well maintained. We also appreciate how dog friendly this campground is! There were easily accessible water sources to wash our dishes. At the entry they offered firewood for $10. A variety of campers from solo camping to group camping with kids and dogs were throughout the campgrounds. We enjoyed our campsite and can’t wait to come back.

This was our second trip to Burlington Campground in just two years, and it’s every bit as magical as we remembered. Camping beneath the towering redwood canopy is an experience unlike any other. Waking up surrounded by these ancient giants is peaceful, humbling, and something every nature lover should experience.

The campground is fairly open, so you’ll definitely be sharing space with other campers, but that actually worked out perfectly for our family. Our kids quickly met other children in the campground and spent hours playing tag, hide-and-seek, climbing around fallen logs, and exploring the redwoods together. It made for an unforgettable camping experience.

The nearby Burlington Visitor Center is outstanding and, in our opinion, the best visitor center along the Avenue of the Giants. The taxidermy and ecological displays covering local wildlife, river ecosystems, forests, and the area’s history are incredibly well done. The Junior Ranger program was another highlight, teaching kids about animal tracks, native wildlife, conservation, and the history of the redwood forest in a fun, hands-on way.

The campground is also just a short walk to the Eel River, where a seasonal land bridge may allow you to cross when water levels are low. If you’re looking for a great swimming spot, don’t miss Leatherwood Bar on the South Fork of the Eel River—it’s absolutely worth the visit.

We highly recommend Burlington Campground to families, nature lovers, and anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the redwoods. We’ll definitely be back again.

We stayed here for one night last May 15th 2026. The California State Park Rangers checking us in were friendly and helpful. Our site was spacious and clean. The flush toilets were clean and stocked with toilet paper, and the coin operated showers truly had HOT water! The location of Burlington Campground was great – right by the Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center, hiking trails were close by or a short driving distance. We would love to stay here again!

Amazing experience. Hot showers were well pressurized and cheap. Just remember to bring quarters as they are coin operated. I loved the way the trees surround the campsites.
