Preparing always for Earthquakes and Tsunamis in Humboldt County. Are you ready?

Pulled in as a transient boater and ended up staying for a week due to weather. Jennifer was super nice and helpful, as were the couple other guys I ran across briefly in the marina office.

The marina itself was very quiet. Another reviewer commented on riff-raff there, but that wasn’t my experience at all, the few liveaboards I met were friendly people, said good morning etc. I didn’t feel at all unsafe nor did my teenage daughter. I didn’t worry about leaving my boat here, which I thought I might have to do if weather didn’t improve.

There were several ghost ships, but that’s unfortunately a problem for a lot of public marinas because those are the least expensive ones to abandon a boat and thanks to California laws they’re hard to get rid of. Docks were reasonably clean and modern concrete.

I really like the town of Eureka too, the marina is a short walk from the old downtown area with great resuraunts, a food co-op and grocery.

Would definitely make this a future stop, to fuel up and hang out.

The wharfinger building is the one of the charm of Eureka harbor nice and clean, the outside structure is architectural marvel 4 being the yacht club. Nice atmosphere they always cleaning lots of city workers who appreciates their work around the Old town area. But be careful though there are a lot of shady people in this area homeless looking for a free ride or fast cash lock your car and put up your valuables so they won’t be seen.

Great place to catch the Sunset!!
Okay to park overnight if traveling. Don’t park at the end though, closer to building is better. Leave early and go to the boardwalk and visit all the awesome shops!!

First of all, Donald the supervisor is a truly nice guy. As the representative of the marina and indeed, Eureka, he deserves recognition. The public marina was a good stop. The docks are decent, security – at night – was decent, security of the shower/ bathroom/ laundry was ok, the showers sure need a serious cleaning but the water and heat were outstanding, bring your own TP. The local liveaboards were friendly and helpful. Didn’t go in to town very far. Del Mar is great for dinner and a game, Kristy’s is awesome for breakfast. Both very close. Englund very close too. Fueling dock (Englund Marine) is sketch for (medium sized) pleasure Craft. It’s either a v small dock at the water or very large pilings.
