The food is excellent and I have been there for lunch many times when it has been great. We tried to go for dinner on a Thursday night and it was so busy that the service was appalling. They messed up things with our order, we could never get the waiter or manager’s attention to order drinks. When we were trying to get containers they had to bring containers for our to-go food three times before they got it right and it ended up being a very frustrating experience as they never spent more than 10 seconds at our table and they never even came around to ask us once how things were going with our meal or if we needed anything. I probably wouldn’t go back again at dinner time but rather order food to go as the doordash guy got more attention than we did

First off, this place has been here for as long as I can remember. During my college years, I have seen this place and almost 20 years later, it is still here. Longevity in the restaurant business is tough so when looking for a place to add to my takeout list as a new resident to Castro Valley, I had to give this place a try.
I have been in Castro Valley for about 7 months now and have gotten take out from here at least 5 times and every single time, my wife and I have been greeted and treated with love by the owners. Were there a few times where I had to wait a little while longer because of how busy they were or issues in the kitchen? Of course yes, stuff like that happens. I am a patient and understanding person. What is always consistent is the warmth that the owner just seems to emit, it must be the Thai culture and personality as having traveled to Thailand more than a handful of times, I felt the the love from the people.
Now for the food. We usually order pad see eww, crab fried rice, angel wings and a few currys. The food always comes super hot and delicious, havent had a bad experience yet with the food. Honestly, what keeps me coming back is the lady that runs the place, I adore her and the love she treats people with.

A gal pal and I met for lunch at Top Thai in Castro Valley. It’s a mom and pop place, nothing fancy, but homey. Our waiter barely went through the motions and did NOT mention to us that he would be charging us for take out boxes (which we asked for) and bags (which we did not ask for). I don’t think I would have minded the fees (20 cents and 10 cents respectively) had he given us a heads up that they would be coming. We had to ask for the check multiple times, but too be fair he had a lot of tables.
The food is GREAT! Fresh, flavorful, VERY tasty! It came out fast and their lunch offerings are reasonably priced. We each tried one of their two soups (I have posted a picture of their coconut soup done vegetarian), crispy egg rolls (a bit too greasy for me but the dipping sauce is divine, green chicken curry with rice (included), and chicken Pad Thai (delicious). This is a great local lunch spot!!!

1st time here, just walking in smelled delicious. It was during dinner rush, so I waited a few minutes to be seated. Great menu. I wanted to try everything. I had the fresh rolls with shrimp. The peanut sauce was amazing. Also, I had the chicken pad thai very tasty, and it’s definitely a sharing dish. For dessert, I had mango and sticky rice yummy. I will return to try the rest of the menu. For my gluten-free people, I did see a menu for you. I am not gluten-free.
