You are allowed 14 days of camping. I was accosted by the local ranger on day #8 based on a report I was here last weekend. He didn’t even know. Good thing I keep records,as well as location history on my phone.
Also illegally asked for my ID , then changed his mind when questioned about the legality.
He was cordial, but not really professional, simply another tyrant with a gun who thinks they have all the power.

Gets ya into the rest of the stuff the Cow Mountain area has to offer. All of the river access and trails around this side are all fenced off now though. Much more limited areas for parking and staging here. Water to cross at some times of the year.

A this location you are able to enter the mountains. If no 4×4 vehicle you can park here and unload toys here then ride up the trail. You can begin going up trail since it’s pavement then behind dirt road.

I love coming out here and go rock hunting. There are plenty of rocks. Its just a beautiful place to enjoy nature. Bring plenty of water and a snack. There are no public restrooms so.

Cow Mountain Recreation area is a nice hiking and biking area. Very peaceful and beautiful nature scenery.
Have to mention the natural wild bay leaves out there.
Took off a star because the hiking trails are not necessarily well defined and there is no restroom or water station so prepare yourself.
