I just came here today. I tried to go to another bank in town, and they wouldn’t help me open a new account. I called SBMC and spoke to Joanna and she was super friendly and helpful. Then I came in and she helped me setup a new account and I got my debit card the same day. Very happy!

I went to Savings Bank to open an account. I’ve enjoyed local banks in other places I’ve lived and expected to enjoy being a customer here as well. I sat with Danica to open the account, and she finds something on Chexsystems from the last bank I had in Massachusetts. I immediately paid that bill, managed to get them to email me a letter saying the debt was paid in full, but that still wasn’t enough. I was given more hoops to jump through. The manager and Danica started treating me with disrespect, as if this one failure – in over 30 years of banking – made me a lesser person. Decided to try Wells Fargo. Account was open in 20 minutes and I left with a debit card and checks in hand. I highly discourage anyone from signing on with Savings Bank in Fort Bragg.
