The new bathrooms were probably nice in 2024.
T.P. gone by noon. Bring your own soap. And only half of the blowdryers work.
The showers only work half the time. It takes 2 minutes to get warm. Even 1 after another, the 2nd shower isn’t immediately hot. Then on top of that, they won’t buy back the tokens!
Do yourself a favor and use the old showers. Quarters only.

Stayed in site 81. Close to bathrooms ans we had our own little back trial that lead straight to the beach. About a 5 min walk. Bathrooms were clean. Showers could use some work. Water pressure is not good and the heads are so high that when it reaches the kids heads its just a trickle so it takes forever which makes you use more tokens. $1 gets you 5 mins. Pretty quiet and overall family friendly campground with lots of sites. Each site has its own fire pit bear box and wooden box (not sure what its for) lots of banana slugs crabs and beaches with tide pools
Would come back if it didnt take 14hrs…

Nice campground! Bathrooms and showers were very clean. The beach was a short easy walk from the campground and you can hear the ocean waves from your campsite. Close to town and other hiking areas. There was also a little grocery store, cleone grocery, right by the campground with all the essentials. 🙂

We had booked here but cancelled when the weather forecast turned rainy and windy for what would have been day 3&4 of our stay. (Packing up in the rain is not my cup of tea. I’m glad we found, and can afford, a last minute VRBO.) Did MacKerricher as a day-use visit (which was free, since the road past the kiosk was closed except to those with campsite reservations. Walked around the west loop, then took the path from site 81 to the beach, then back along the haul road to picnic near the whale skeletons at the kiosk. After lunch we hiked out to the tide pools and Laguna Point. The Surfwood campground was closed: they were/are in the process of installing metal ‘bear boxes’ (the wooden critter-cupboards are quite old).

We loved this campsite! Site 105 was nicely secluded. The campground had clean bathrooms and showers (coin operated) and it was very quiet and peaceful. A short walk to beach and beautiful sunsets also!!
