The food is very tasty here. The pho broth is beefy and sweet, good amount of tendons, tripe, rare beef, and brisket. Noodles was not soggy, complimented everything together well. Condiments where fresh and clean. The fragrant smell of the broth still lingers hours later. The BBQ meats are well marinated and the char is on point.
This spot is consistently good, be it sit down or to go. Don’t have to drive all the way down to San Jose, this should be a staple.
Note- to the hardcore pho fans, They got a pho challenge!
Don’t need to drive all the way to SJ for authentic Pho! Pho play definitely serves delicious Vietnamese food! Their menu is not as big, which is a great plus because sometimes you just need a simple meal without all the hundred options. Their soup is very comforting. Their rice or noodle plates are as good too. I haven’t tried their Bahn Mi but I’ll look forward to it on my next visit.
Came here on 3/26/26 and on 3/27/26 at 7:45pm. The food here is amazing in comparison to their prices. In california, at Super Club or Joe’s Pho a nice decred out meal for 2 people with drinks runs me easily 120 dollars, here I spent 90 and enjoyed every single piece of it. The spring rolls are 9 dollars for 2 but are huge (tasted amazing). Thr chicken wings were also huge and for 11 dollars is a steal! The chicken was juicy and flavorful with a light batter. The drinks were also very reasonably priced and tasty. The older lady in the front was very nice and respectful when asking questions about the food and sizes for everything. As someone who eats out frequently, this place is forsurely my go to. They run a efficient operation here with a older bald man bussing the tables and lovely workers packing up mobile orders. If you want to enjoy a quiet and flavorful meal, this place should be on your radar, and to be under 100 dollars for 7 items 2 of which were appetizers and 2 bowls of pho and 2 drinks, this place is a good to. Not sure about the previous reviews but so far this place beats the competition… did I fail to mention thay i also loaded my bun bo hue up with extra meat and tendons? Well I did and it was amazing.
The pork Banh Mi is wonderful. With just the right amount of sweetness, heat, and crunch this is a sandwich to savor. The sandwich is big enough for 2 people, the picture I posted is half the sandwich. If you’re looking for something interesting to eat in Castro Valley Pho Play is a good choice.

The food was good. Enjoyed the bao and some egg rolls and my hubby enjoyed the pho. Nice and clean. Prices vary but Cali prices.
