    Table for 3
    Lunch 1150AM Sunday
    Seated immediately
    Order Taken – 1159AM
    First item main out- 1204PM

The menu feels and sounds like a fusion or modern take on Japanese cuisine.

Very modern feel.   Sort of the loud side.

    Central bar with counter seating
    Sushi bar with seating
    Outdoor seating available
Plenty of tables and a few booths
Dining area is clean and roomy

    Hostess and Server very welcoming.
Server – Jordan F was really personable, checking back and seeing if we wanted dessert.  She was informative giving us an explanation and description of a seasoning.
Food runner was quick and efficient.
*Staff is uniformed in black, giving the location a clean, modern feel, but also an air of aloofness, the atmosphere that is not the staff.

Dinnerware is clean.  Chopsticks are individually wrapped.  Napkins on table.

    Brussels Sprouts ($10)
Came out nice and hot.  Slight crunch and a bit of heat.  Good balance of saltiness and heat.

    Sea of Greens ($18)
Mixed seared Salmon and TunaPretty good fresh fish salad.  The proteins were seared so they retained the color and texture just beneath it.  Note you had a choice of tuna, salmon or a mix.  All this sat on top of a big bowl of spring greens, accompanied with sliced cucumbers and freshly diced avocados.  The dressing is sesame ponzu, so its fragrant and refreshing.  The chili garlic crisp added a bit of texture and flavor to the dish.
*only negative is the menu says it comes with rice crackers and lemon… mine did not  have either…the Expediter needs to make sure everything is done before it leaves the back

    Saba Nigiri (Shime saba) $8.50c
onsidering its shime saba, I do not taste any hint of salt or tanginess.  The flesh was firm with no hint of fishness as you might find in shimeru.  They did a really good job with this.

Wow. I’ve never had sushi this good! Everything was fresh and tasty. The pieces melted like butter in your mouth. My server was Juan and he was great. Kept my drink full and checked on me the perfect amount. Tuesday’s are happy hour all day I so I was able to get a deal on what I wanted. I was visiting from out of town and this place was so good I might come back tomorrow. Look out, Juan!

I ordered Mussolini pasta. There is no taste, it just bland. $27 for this stir fried noodle is overpriced.

    Chirashi don – very fresh.

Our Service was very slow. It wasn’t busy at all though

Just absolutely love Mikuni. The Davis location was great. We were seated quick, the apps were fast and delicious. We placed our order after perusing the menu and asking questions and were blown away with how quickly the rolls came out!

I don’t think there is a bad roll on the menu.

We all agree that Tony Leftovers is our favorite, followed by Incredible, DMC, Rainbow and Benjamin

I had the lobster specialty hand roll. It didn’t have as much flavor as expected and it felt quite dry as I ate it. I also ordered the Sacramento Roll, which they had to make twice because for some reason the menu doesn’t list avocado as an ingredient. Nearly every other roll on the menu indicated whether it had avocado. I don’t eat avocado, so it needed to be remade without it. The Sacramento Roll also states “lobster” as an ingredient when it’s obviously imitation crab. Their payment terminal wouldn’t work with GPay, so I needed to go grab my physical card from the car. A man, I can only assume is the manager, suggested I leave a personal item behind “just in case”, implying I would dine and dash. I found it quite rude and insulting. Not my fault your pay terminal doesn’t work properly. Oh, and that specialty hand roll is way too expensive ($12.50) for the portion size, quality, and limited flavor. If anyone was scammed, it was me. The restaurant interior is neat and designed well at least.
