We came for taco Tuesday, and I’m so glad that we did. The tacos were very meaty. We also ordered the sushi dragon roll, the pasta, Diablo and the nachos with no meat.

The nachos were so spicy. I didn’t think I would be able to eat them at first, but the more I ate them the more I liked them. As a rule, I prefer my nachos to have melted cheese, and these nachos were certainly not the melted cheese variety. Again, I thought that would make them unappealing to me, but they just tasted so good, and I think it was that ridiculously spicy sauce. I loved it.

The shrimp and pasta dish on the other hand was supposed to be spicy and was not spicy at all. It was well seasoned and the shrimp were well cooked and we really enjoyed it.

The dragon roll was also good. I didn’t eat very much of it so I cannot give it a very thorough review but the bite I did have tasted basically like any deep fried roll. You might get at a chain sushi place.

We also got a virgin strawberry slushy, and it was interesting that they put some kind of red powder on the top. The powder was not my liking, but the slushy was delicious.

I would definitely eat there again. Our server was prompt and friendly.

The set up is a little bit weird and kind of gives you the vibe that they move the tables away to create a dance floor. I don’t know if that is the case, but it most certainly could be. The bathroom had a lot of rust.

We had a wonderful time celebrating at Kalaveras. We had a reservation for Sunday brunch and arrived a little early and only waited a few minutes for our table. The place wasn’t too busy when we arrived while we waited for the rest of our party. Staff was nice. Nobody really explained the brunch menu or process, but they did come around for drinks. Brunch is on Sunday and is reasonably priced as advertised. You can’t order off the menu during the brunch hours. They have a good selection of items some breakfast standard items plus tacos, omelette, bar, posole rice beans, tamales a good variety of food. The dessert was just OK. They did have Horchata and another agua fresca as part of the brunch options for no additional fee. Staff was really friendly, but they do get busy and we had to ask for things occasionally like utensils and napkins overall looks like a fun location and good music. Parking is a little challenging on the main street, but there is a parking structure on Orange Grove that is free on the weekends.
